Hi Guys Just spoke with Both Dan and Dennis Jenson about spraying traction compound for first 1/8 mile of track. I said I would happily pay a $10 buck fee at the gate, to have track owner regularly spray track with compound, especially on race day, so we can all make safe, consistent, 1/4 mile passes. So, would all you fellow Pure Stock Racers be willing to each pay a $10 buck fee at the gate, to make track owner spray the track with compound?
I'm just a spectator, but I'd go for a 10 spot. I'd be in for even more if they did away with the 11.50 breakout rule....
Track conditions don't affect us slow people, or those who make their cars "hook" on the street:Smarty: People must learn to "tune" the car to the racing surface, not try to make the track "work" for a crappy suspension:ball: Watch Street Outlaws. If you can't make your car work on the street, test your car at Osceola Dragway in Indiana, the only track with worse prep than Stanton. I've had cars that hook better on the street than they do at Osceola! True. Flame away.......................:TU:

I haven't raced at Stanton yet and maybe I'm just used to good track prep at LVD, but if you've got a car that rears up on the RR corner, than maybe Tom's advice is a good place to start. Took a Dave Morgan suspension seminar and solved a lot of issues right then and there, street or strip. Almost embarrassing now when you're trying to do a big old burnout, and the car hooks and shoots. All that said, I'd pay the 10.00 if it kept everyone in their lane.
I just set the car up to leave on snot, Went to the great white north and played with the Canucks. Took it off kill and set it on stun and going down the track Just as fast. Just more consistent.:3gears: Scotty... I'm ready for the rematch
You guys should come to Cecil for our East Coast Regionals. This track hooks great & your cars will turn the best times ever. We are having Ralph's Super Car race and he has classes for pure stock.
Rich I fear $10 wouldn't be enough to improve track much. Yvonne made close to 20 trips down the track at Martin. 50 cents a pass not much once we pull all the rubber up with 150 cars. That said yes I'd hand over another $10 a car
I would gladly pay extra whatever the cost. The 4 speed cars are the ones getting squirrelly on the 1-2 shift.Just cant get myself to lay off enough on that shift to keep the tail from wanting to come around. The really good drivers can do it,just not me!!
I ended up with 300 lbs of ballast (the same as the load Brian saw in the bathroom) in my max wedge last year. The track was a little more greasy than normal, so yeah I would pay $10 for spray. At the very least, maybe a series of welcome mats between the bathrooms and the burn-out area:laugh:
Thank you everyone for chiming in. $10 bucks from 150 PSD drivers yields $1500 for traction compound. That is plenty of money to get track owner to spray the track regularly through Friday and Saturday, so we can all make safe, clean 1/4 mile passes. I will contact Dan Jensen
Dennis, Lyndon and I appreciate what you guys want to do. We will work with the track to spray more often and further down than they used to. They do charge us for every spray, but if it works, then it is worth it. But like Jeremy said, once our cars remove all the rubber that has been laid down all season, it is difficult to make the track stick, especially with the cold temps that are forecasted for this Friday and Saturday. Be prepared to retard the timing some! On Saturday, during each shootout round, are you guys okay with stopping the action when we get to the mid to low twelve second cars to stray and drag the track? I, for one, would be interested if we can make the track stick with these forecasted weather conditions. Dan
