It's OK by me - it's not like I am NOT going to race with the extra traction compound down!
I'm not expecting much in top-end power from the H/O but low end is like a catapult shot!

Listen, if the real concern here is safety, then let's face the real problem. The track is not dangerous... the tailgate party in the parking lot of the hotel is! JJ took a slip and fall a few years back and he still isn't the same. I'm all for laying down a coat of traction compound in the parking area for everyone's safety while intoxicated. Don't ask, just do it.

    Thanks for chiming in Dan.

Most of us here, and I believe most PS racers, will happily pay an extra 10 bucks at the gate, for a regularly sprayed track.

See you Thursday morning in tech.

Why not spray from the git go instead of stopping after the first 10 to 15 cars?:laugh:

If it's sprayed only on Saturday folks will have to really watch the three tenths rule.........and some will run the risk of getting a 11.49 shootout LOSE!

The possible scenarios are fun to think of. "I paid ten extra bucks to get bounced?"

I think Terry's signature says or has said "be careful what you ask for.......you just might get it."

Either way Dan, not everyone will be happy, so like Tom said, decide and that's the way it is.

So... last year I put a PS hemi in my 71 Super Bee. I had it in there all year and was having fun tuning it. In August I took it to E town in the heat and went 12.01. The car went in the trailer and stayed there till Stanton. At Stanton it would only go a 12.74 and most runs were just plain scary. The car would go sideways in third gear, not cool. The car started to make some tranny noise and I was happy to park it. Now, I'm not crying I was happy to take it home in one piece. Long way to drive to learn that lesson.

For years we have all heard that "our cars tear up the track". I don't buy it at all, NOT ONE BIT. The track prep is the key. A radial tire car likes a shiny almost goo-ee track where a bias tire likes a scraped dull grey track. They can make any track "safe" . Stanton is like racing on 11th street in South Philadelphia. As long as you expect no prep you will be happy.

Oh well, I'll see you all soon in my little 300hp Duster.

I won't bring it... it's useless out there.

I will be happy to see you at MIR though where the racing surface is a dull grey. LOL

    fwiw, I'd contribute $10.

but I was thinking a lot of the same things some others have said

I guess as long as they aren't watering the cow pasture ..... and the top end of the track we'll be fine

$10 bucks isn't gonna kill me, but its kind of an insult the last couple years..

Hasn't been much prep AT ALL. Any other event at Stanton they prep, Never understood why they wouldn't for ours..
Do it or not is up to the head honchos... but if everyone gets charged $10 dollars for prep and they just give a squirt here or there.. I'M gonna be pissed. A 50 gallon barrel of VHT costs how much?? ;) $10 x 125-150 cars.. Guarantee they haven't used more than 15-20 gallons(if that) during the last few years the whole weekend at our events.

I'll pony up the money if its what it takes and its really gonna happen.

    Qualify Friday. No glue.

    Race Saturday. Glue at a pre-determined point/pairing/ET.

    > 3/10ths rule in effect. Driver gets pissed when he's bounced for going too quick.

    >> Start glue at pairing "X". Driver(s) in pairing "X-1" gets pissed because his car spins, and why did they stop where they did ?

    >>> Track glues on Saturday and cars still spin (history repeating itself). Drivers get pissed.

    >>>> I go in the bathroom, and no one has flushed. I'm pissed, because I gave Brian 10 bucks to insure toilet-flushage, and it's not happening.

To be honest, my car is slow enough, it won't spin on road gravel, so I am just an innocent bystander that is going to watch people get pissed NO MATTER what Dan, Dennis, and Lyndon do.

Just to Clarify... I had someone call me whinning " Why are you picking on Dan and Lyndon"

I'm NOT ! Bob and Dan Have Had a long history with this track over the years. Have spent a lot of Money renting the track every year.
I Feel the TRACK has let us and them down. Terry Pennington and a few others offered to Buy a barrel of VHT years ago. and was declined..

$10 dollars isn't the issue, I would happily if they would do it. But really don't care.. I just spent a lot of time working on my chassis to get it to hook the last couple months. Traction IS the great equalizer So what ever happens - happens ...

I just wanted to Thank Dan ,Dennis and Lyndon for spraying the track with compound for Saturday race shoot outs.

It was very noticeable that track had been sprayed and was a lot stickier.

Dan, I would still be happy to pay at the gate next year for track spray. A lot of Pure Stock drivers told me in person, they would happy to pay a spray fee at the gate.

Hopefully word gets out, so new PSD race drivers will come out next year, if they know track is going to be sprayed.

This is a good thing for all of us PSD drivers to make safe, consistent, 1/4 mile passes, plus the PSD event as a whole to attract new PS drivers and cars next year.

The track prep after the first round eliminations was a day and night difference from the rest of the weekend. Obviously the cold did not help.Going sideways in third gear was the norm for Friday unless you granny shifted. It kept me from making too many runs.Great event, run by great guys, but not a fan of that slippery track.

So is this why the spectators paid $20 at the gate instead of the advertised $15? Would have been nice to know in advance.
