Hey guys, one of the mods on gsregal.org posted this. I thought I would pass it along in case someone in Texas was in a position to help, thanks

A friend of mine from high school has a son who will turn 16 at the end of October. He was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. With treatment he may get a year without it 3 months. As a car guy I remember turning 16 and the joy of getting my license and being able to drive on my own, and this is something this young man will never experience.

I am looking for someone nearby, hopefully with a somewhat modified car, that would take this young man out for cruise, dinner, and a time to be 16. Most likely it will be with his dad or mom in tow. I would happily cover the expense for dinner, your time, and gas. If anyone is capable of giving me a hand please let me know and I will make the connection with her and him. She lives in Texas but I am unsure where he is located for treatment.

Thanks as a parent I cannot imagine what my friend is going through, but want to make his birthday memorable for him.

My prayers go to this family. I'm in Texas but my car is not even running still on jack stands. Wish I was ready to help. Good luck and hopefully someone else can step up and help.

I am too far away from Houston to make it work. Hopefully someone will give a ride for them.

Need to know where in the Houston area. I am in the SE area of Houston, with an Original 68 GS, but have Numerous Local people with "Mod Cars" around as well.
Have a couple of Shows in the next couple of weekends, as well as Numerous Cruise Nights on different sides of town on various nights as well.
I think We can arrange Something.

There's quite a few members from the Houston area that I'm sure would be more than willing to help out if they know about this thread. I have one of their names and numbers. I'll pass the word on to him if others can do the same with members they may know. If I were closer I would help out in a heart beat.

May God bless this young man and his family!!

I am out as well, my car is down. And both the Uncles '67 and '66 race car are down. The black '66 is all stock-like with stock exhaust. Cool ride, but not when you are 16 and want to feel the power and the rumble. Would love to help him out if one of the cars was ready to roll. Will pass on the word as well and see if we can help.

JR might be the answer as he does have connections. Maybe Steve with his Special, or Jeff(I think that is his name) with his hopped up '70 could help if they are around. And I can't remember Jeff's best bud's name that has/had the black early '70. They are both wicked.

JR Trying to get the info right now.

You know it would be kind of ironic if this works out, right?

Gotta give a big thanks to JR for helping out on this. The mom was already excited....actually was mad because I made her cry again...just have to say the car community is AMAZING.

Sounds like this is working out for the young man. Great!!! Thanks to those who offered to do this, those who helped make it happen and the car community for stepping up. Hopefully they can make it a memorable event for the young man and his family. God Bless

Wish we could have gotten him to Biloxi Mississippi this week and next weekend for Cruisin The Coast. Talk about your car crazy event. Every make and model you can imagine. In any shape from rotten to gold.

No Thanks needed. Glad to Help
When I spoke with his Mom last night, she sounded a bit broken up, and was taking the Family to AZ to visit some Relatives, & should be back next week.
1 Cruise Night, Possibly a "Quaker Steak & Lube" visit, and If Josh can handle it, Maybe a Run @ the local indoor Go Kart Track. (May be able to get some more "Muscle Cars" & a couple of Rods to ride in as well)

I've only got a Bone stock 68 GS400, But Have a Modified 67 Mustang & a Cobra Replicar coming out to give him rides as well, & Possibly a real 69 Shelby GT350, so if things play out, we're going to keep him Busy for the afternoon & evening.

Don't know. She was on the road on her Cell when she returned my call, so I didn't want to be on the phone for any length of time.
    Sorry
