Hi All, Looking to verify the correct Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch part number for a Buick 350 with the 10 spline input shaft transmission. I came across this one on Summit Racing but when I searched the web different part numbers were coming up. I don't want to order the wrong one. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ctf-df271675/overview/year/1973/make/buick/model/century Can anyone help out? Thanks!
Dont know how much this helps out, but I ordered part number DF735552 for mine (455/muncie 10 spline input) and it appears the only difference between the two is mine is an 11" and the one you have selected is a 10.4". I havent got to drive mine yet, but it bolted up just fine and all seems good.
Thanks guys! Appreciate the help. I went cheap and bought a CARQUEST clutch and pressure plate and the clutch will not release fully...no way I can drive the car like that, because when I push in the clutch, the rear wheels keep spinning. I think the pressure plate does not work properly. I'm hoping this will solve my problem...and I know this is a well made/reliable clutch set up.
You may want to check your throwout bearing and linkage setup to make sure you're getting enough travel.
Shawn, throw out bearing is installed correct and the linkage moves enough to completely press in all of the fingers in on the pressure plate. If the clutch is pushed in, I can get a rod and wiggle the clutch away from the flywheel and pressure plate but it won't realease on its own. Thanks.
Ah, ok. Just thinking out loud as your first comment was a bit vague other than it just wouldn't disengage. Sounds like you've done your due diligence so hopefully the center force setup will cure what ails you!
I'm not a fan of the Centerforce clutches with those weight things. After 20,000 miles I had my pressure plate lock up (bent the lower clutch pedal linkage rod out when the pedal got hard), and the only thing I could figure was the weights were getting wedged in the fingers and jamming them. Also caused me to miss Drag Week 2013 (I was 800 miles from home on my way there when it did it). Just my two cents, might of been a fluke too but I'm not giving it a second chance. My first regular centerforce clutch I got over 70,000 miles out of it, so I like the brand still, just not the weight things on the diaphragm springs.
