So........your telling me that at Stanton, we're throttle stopping/reverse tuning 6-7 tenths of a second out of these cars to try to run slower than 11.50
The big deal at Stanton is the lack of traction, even more than the need for tuning to get the cars less power. The Hemi cars are even more hindered than the Corvettes due to the lack of traction on the starting line. The air afforded by the sea level location, plus a superior track surface and preparation only add to the reduction in et's. The numbers you have heard about so far were during a "track rental" time Friday, before the actual start of the event and were not a part of qualifying. In actual qualifying, up to this moment, times are as follows. Julie Pennington 10.876 @ 125.58 Ed Keim 10.982 @ 123.32 Rick Mahoney 10.990 @ 127.07 One other thing, all three cars were on treaded tires. They be well worn, but tread is still visible, so they are not to the point of being slicks.
It's been made obvious over the years that this time of year at that track is the place to post some unbelievable E.T.'s,60 footers,MPH. It all starts with sticking the car to the line. If you make a strong start, it's going to accumulate through the run to the end, resulting in Low E.T./High MPH. Have fun gang, looks like people are setting new personal best's.:TU:
This is from the FAST Facebook page. I don't know which cars are considered "Factory Stock" and which ones are in the FAST class; Qualifying Rick Callahan 10.334 @ 133.43 Ed Cook 10.370 @ 132.28 Don Giannone 10.779 @ 126.19 Julie Pennington 10.876 @ 125.58 Jay Delaigle 10.969 @ 123.84 Ed Keim 10.982 @ 123.32 Rick Mahoney 10.990 @ 127.07 Brian Wilsey 11.157 @ 122.72 Jim Jarrett 11.258 @ 121.63 Scott Tieman 11.381 @ 123.64 Steve Hodges 11.471 @ 117.47 Scott McKenzie 11.800 @ 115.75 Jim Seiler 11.965 @ 116.87 Tim Clary 12.038 @ 113.81 Tom Cannon 12.195 @ 117.15 Jeremy McNicol 12.647 @ 105.74 Mike Marinal 12.691 @ 107.85 Mike Leyes 12.705 @ 109.54 Yvonne McNicol 12.862 @ 105.50 Dave Watt 13.890 @ 99.44
