newb howdy ! I am used to sending a vin for my pontiacs to PHS I receive full authentication of vehicle how does buick authenticate ? I have pic of vin /trim tag/build sheet $$$$ buick thank you richard
Richard. VIN and body number can be sent to Wayne Roberts for GSX documentation and verification. He is a board member. For quick and dirty verification, much help can be had on this board. All GSX cars were built in Flint, so the assembly plant code will be "H" in the VIN, and "FL1" on the Fisher Body trim tag. All will have "188" interior trim code, and either Q-Q or 10-10 paint code. Production began in February of 1970, so a date of 02B or later on the trim tag is a must. Depending which build sheet you have, specific GSX codes can be used to authenticate the car. On a "Production Order Body - Final" sheet, a code of X will appear in the ORN box, and RX will appear in the STEERING WHEEL box. The VIN and body number will appear on the POBF. On a "Body Shop Inspection" sheet, the following specific GSX codes will appear; Y41 GSX GROUP, D35 GSX MIRRORS, BW1 DELETE RR ORNA, and if the car is yellow WD6 GSX YELLO. I am not certain if the white cars used a specific code for paint on the body shop inspection, but I assume so. The body number will appear on the body shop inspection, but not the VIN. You can also go here GSX Registry for some good information. Welcome to the world of Buicks.
thank you may your posi's run long no pobf sheet/ but all other codes checked good! standard 455-auto- yellow-a/c- ?TILT AND CRUISE? unable to locate the tilt and cruise codes on bodysheet ? I am aware that not all options on cars are listed on docs. thanks for the gsx authentication "guru" I will use him
Sounds like you have the Fisher Body Sheet only. It only has options Fisher would have needed to know. The tilt wheel and others options you mentioned were installed by Buick that is why you do not have them listed. The Buick build sheet may be on top of the gas tank unless it was changed.
