I plan to run mid to high 11s in my stock looking 72 455 and was wondering if Thers is a mechanical pump(TA Fuel pump) that will feed the motor? dont want to go with electrical but will if I have to. Thanks Doug
http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/buick1100.html Pretty sure this will feed it! If that's overkill, (is there such a thing??) they have a 550hp version as well.
Yeah, I run a RobbMC pump as well, with a good 3/8" fuel supply line, I've never had a fuel pressure problem. Best ET has been 11.77 out here in the desert.
Craig if you dont mind whats the cam your running? Im looking for a cam to sound very mild(stock as possible) and running ported manifolds. Thanks Doug
TA 288-94H is a great cam for stock appearing and good idle, but can run mid to low 12's with a fair set of ported iron heads, iron intake and iron exhaust manifolds. Should do 11's with aluminum heads and headers. A close second choice in power but with slightly better idle is a C118 from TA. Very smooth and sneaky cam. Expect 450 HP, and with good flowing heads & headers 475+. I love my Robbmc 550 fuel pump. You'll need one with the above cams.
Doug, it's a Lunati cam I bought from the GS Club many years ago, Part# 33399, GRIND# H225-235. It's relatively mild; Lift = .493 IN .524 EX DUR @ .050 = 225 IN 235 EX Idles at 800 rpm.
I've always wondered what it weighed, but never found out. I have the glass hood and front bumper, aluminum heads and aluminum radiator, plus no AC stuff. One day I have to find someone with some decent scales
This is the one I use. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?277370-BBC-Mechanical-Fuel-pump&highlight=cv+fuel+pump
I have used a stock S-1 fuel pump and fuel line, the car ran in the low 11.70 steel heads car idle was 700,with 9.75 compression.I had a little more work done to the heads, now I'm going with 1/2 fuel line and inline electric fuel pump and bigger cam, this I got from Scott Brown.Bruno.
Bruno, Remember I told you about Phil Sedlon fragging a piston running 11's with a Stage1 pump? Here's the thread, http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...gasket-is-the-least-of-my-problems&highlight=
Funny, this thread recently caused me to rethink using the Mallory 140 I have and instead go with the very robbmc pump I recommended earlier. Kinda ironic how that happened....
