Or......put the big RAGU in there for a promptly rewarded 9.00. Honestly Wayne, a breath of fresh air for an unbelievably detailed and professional build. Thanks for sharing. Amazing.
Ya, I have a 85 lb drive at home that is just itching to drive this thing. She is in the garage constantly, sitting in the seat telling me what needs to change to fit her in the car.
LOL...I was going to ask how far off that was from happening. Doesn't she see YOUR name on the window?
I had the pleasure of seeing Wayne's car last night at Milan's heads up race. I was so impressed with the quality of this build from top to bottom. I was speechless. Car ran damn good too in pea soup air. 8.45 and 8.41 if I recall. Even heard the announcer comment how he wasn't sure if it was Buick powered but he doubted it. I was basically jumping up and down yelling "oh yes it is!" Lol
Mike, I picked a color that was close to chrome. I then had them paint the bumpers that color, along with the steel of the drip rail and the stainless trim so everything would look the same and minimize the painted bumper look? The head light buckets are factory pot metal with a thin layer of fiberglass on the back side. I painted that black and the put headlight decals from Jegs on them.
Thanks for the kind words, just which I could of made R 1. Car gave no indication of anything wrong until I fired it in the lanes. Looks like either the valve seat dropped or a large piece of porcelain from the plug broke off and held the #6 exhaust valve open. So right now it looks like Damage is at minimum Push rod, Rocker arm adjuster, Valve, Spring and hardware, piston, rod, and bearing, in the 6 hole. Looked at race pak and nothing wrong during the run, it appears this happened during cool down. Only 3 passes on this thing. Just irritates me I had 2 or 3 degrees of total timing out, probably 4 to 6 extra out at launch, and the jets 2 steps rich. Wanted to run the entire race with everything safe and just make some passes before turning it up. Guess I have to look at it this way. It was 100% humidity and 125 grains of water, we were racing in fog and the track was every greasy. So maybe this was sap-posse to happen LOL . It did happen at start up and only ran for a couple of seconds.
Sorry to hear about the damage Wayne. I'm sure the tune up was fat in that air. Wondering if the plug could have been cracked from the get go. Possibly during manufacturing. Hope repairs go smoothly. Can't wait to see the car out again.
So nothing else got damaged? If a plug caused that in a high dollar engine? I might fight for some money. But what broke the spark plug? No air cleaner to the carb? Like a rock?
Sad to hear that Wayne. It does reaffirm what I have been saying.....it's often little stuff that can take out an engine it not all about the block. I've had rockers loosen up, oil lines leak, side electrodes break off plugs, etc. Speaking of that I was having issues with side electrodes snapping off. I believe it was from bending to gap. I stopped gapping and no breaks since.
