Can't help but wonder after running my car at the Nats and seeing where it's spending all it's time in the RPM range if a intake swap wouldn't benefit me? It leaves at 4500 ,shift to 2nd at 6400 and goes thru the traps at 6700ish. Currently has a gasket matched SP2 with a HVH 1in tapered spacer. So what you guys think ? 1.Current setup is fine 2. Modify a SPX to for the TE ports 3. Get some adapter plates and go with a Mopar intake? Obviously this would be the most costly and time consuming.
1.44 and a 1.49 but it is 100% stock suspension up front tight arms, monroe shocks etc. I've got a good list of changes to make up front for sure. And to be honest considering what it does have it did pretty well to the 330. Probably getting ahead of myself by wondering about engine changes before I optimize what's there. Just heard of some guys picking up solid power with the open air intakes. Also need to seal carb to good also too of carb was pretty wet after each run .
Best mph was 99 to the 1/8 and 121.3 Best et was 10.87 at 119 and as a 10.88 at 120 3780Lb race weight
Ethan there are plenty of other places to spend money. your car runs good, I doubt an intake is going to pick you up as much as suspension work. That and see if you can take any unnecessary weight out of it.
Agree, You have a very nice car with a good combination. You're definitively at that point where if you really want to go faster it's totally do-able, but the money just bleeds from your bank account, (with minimal gains per dollar spent). Focus on the suspension and try to get it down. Cut weight where you can. Tom Rix ran mostly stock suspension and he had his Top Stock car down to 1.30 or better 60 ft. (I'm going off memory so I could be a little off, but it was very quick and fast for having fairly low HP!) It's possible when the correct effort is applied! Steve
You fellas know how it is, gears always turning ha, hope to have the front suspension sorted out in the next 3weeks and squeeze a couple more track outings in
11.2 to 1, 259 267 605 605 110las, home ported heads, 86 and 92, haven't had a chance to work with jetting, plugs color pretty well but does "feel" a little lean on top,but with the scoop maybe pulling fuel out I gotta address that first then I will maybe look into a dual bank egt or wideband setup. Engine builder is looking for 125 Mph and I'm sure it's there just gotta work with it, got 6 passes on it so I got a ways to go I reckon. But if it will leave like a boss and run some 50's but mph a little low well thata work just fine too ha!
Mopar intake is too big and too much money to adapt that could be better spent elsewhere, did you have the heads flowed at all after you ported them?
I would say start with a HR antiroll bar, QA1 adjust shocks and control arms, mine liked that. Ooo, and weight savings:Brow:
9By12 Baffled sump box, -12 feed to A1000 pump,-10 to bypass reg, two -6 Y'd into a -8 to carb. Little bit overkill but fuel supply is not something you cut corners on as we all know
Can't loose any weight really , not on this car anyway. I'm pulling another body in the shop this weekend that I'm goin to start on this winter. It will end up being the dedicated strip car, 10pt moly cage frame gussets etc etc. But I plan to use the orange car to refine the combo over next season.
