A Red 72 GSX was parted out, and all the parts ended up on a 72 Skylark. It was in Southern Oregon 3-4yrs ago? I questioned it but he said it had the GSX dash pad, I believe it was a 350 car. I still have his number somewhere. John
My www.buickgsx.net site got hacked and I am still battling with getting it back up. This GSX is the real deal. Color, top and options match the data. I do not know anything about the specific car other than it started life as a real GSX. Mark
I thought that number represented the number that were exported, but not necessarily all of them to Canada? Possibly this one was exported to the Middle East on day 1?
40 of 44 were exported from U.S. And 22 of those to Canada, others not sure if it's known each final destination ( Mark may know during his research at sloan ). DL
I had go back and check what was posted on Mark's site (pre-hack). Looks like 39 were exported (17 outside of Canada), but not necessarily outside of the U.S., as it looks like that 39 includes ones sent to HI and AK (if any). TOTAL CAR SOLD BY LOCATION 48 STATES USA 5 CANADA 22 EXPORTED (INCLUDING HAWAII) 17
Sloan provided the 22/44 Canadian export cars info . I know Mark did more extensive research . I was thinking only 4/5 of the 44 were U.S. DL PS can u locate the thread about the original 44" search function doesn't work for me . DL
You mean this one? http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?277990-1972-Buick-GSX-Color-Combinations&highlight=1972+gsx
Probably this one. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...reakdown-Information&highlight=1972+buick+gsx Mark
On the locations the cars that went to Canada typically showed a Canadian dealer number. This number would have been in the 80s. There were other cars shipped to a 79 code. The 79 code was used for export cars but I could not find information on all the codes in the 79 series. At one time there was a car in the Caribbean that had one of the 79 number and it was same as several others cars. It is difficult to determine if the 79 number was the export location or the delivery location. We do have some numbers that specifically show Hawaii dealer code but non that show foreign countries. Its my understanding the red 4 spd stage 1 GSX is done It was in pretty good shape to start with. I've seen a pic of an orange and white X the yellow is easier on the eyes
it was parked at my place for several months, definitely in good shape to start with. Back in storage now, definitely NOT done yet.
Regarding attempting to isolate the number of '72 GSX's which were exported from US production to other countries (other than Canada), I find it interesting that the last page of Mark's spread sheet (I will try to attach that blown up section below and the 3 pg Excel spreadsheet) with the break-down of the '72 GSX option list shows 10 '72 GSX's produced with code 6A (66 + 67 Export Speedometer (Export Only) + delete Certificate Compliance (Export Only) - at 22.73% of overall production and then 15 '72 GSX's produced with code 88 Export Preparation (Export Only) - 34.09% of overall production. I am curious if these numbers - 10 and 15, respectively, overlap or are separate .... meaning is the 10 within the overall 15 number or could we infer that the number exported is 10+15 (=25)? Anyway, this info strongly reinforces that a substantial portion of '72 GSX production went to countries other than the US and Canada. View attachment Buick GSX option preakdown.pdf
I was at the GSX reunion and understood the red stage 4 spd was going to T&N. I wanted it then! I also assumed that by this time it would have been done Man that was a great show.
