Ik wanted to install new front sway bar bushings today, but although the new ones were supposed to fit, they don't. I have a sway bar which measures 2,43 cm ~ 0.96". There is a little paint on it, so I think it is the standard 15/16" bar. I ordered ACDelco bushings on Rockauto, but they look really different. Left is old (and bigger) 45G0500 is supposed to fit according to both Amazon and Rockauto. But the holes are way too small and the shape is off. I measured a 2,04 cm hole which is 4/5". My current bushings have a 1" hole; I figured that was too big, or is ok to put it back in? If not, which one to I have to order then? And where?
Your old bushings and bracket are after market, not stock Buick. You'll need stock Buick brackets to run those bushings.
2,43 cm is 0.9567". 0.9567 - 0.9375 = 0.019". I guess 0.019" is the paint. Is there a way to determine the sway bar for sure? I actually think 2 things are going on; first off aftermarket brackets, and I also think wrong sized bushings were put in the box.
That looks like the rear sway bar bushing for a Camaro/Firebird. I don't think that is an A-body front sway bar bushing.
Hi, use this number 9.5109 for search here: http://energysuspension.com/parts-search.html direct link to part don't work, sorry
The stock brackets for your car are a different shape. You aren't going to find them in the aftermarket. You may be able to find them from someone here if you post in parts wanted. Those are the correct bushings. Someone may have put a bigger bar on the car sometime in the last 47 years. If the bushings you have are worn, just replace them with the same part. http://imagesrv.catalograck.com/imgVD/ENE/9_5109R_v1_20130702.jpg
Thanks Kaule. Ok thank you. Do you know the stock size of the sway bar? I though it was 15/16". The hole in the new bushing is .8", so I don't think that fits very well
No I don't, but that information will be in the 1968 Buick Chassis Manual. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Buick-...ash=item3d0f348a1a:g:AOoAAOSwLnlWnZun&vxp=mtr If you don't have one of these, it should be your next purchase.
