Hey Guy's looking at getting a new set of tires looking for some opinions. The current set I have on are what I bought the car with 6 years ago who knows how old they really are " Super Sport Futura GLS P295/50R15". Ive been browsing around and here are a few I've seen looking to go slightly bigger. -M&H Drag Radial Tire 325/50R15 $290 per http://www.jegs.com/i/M-H/676/ROD-17/10002/-1 M/T Drag Radial Tire 325/50R15 $228 per https://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php
There's always the classic BFG TA Radials - I like the look of them. I had BFG 255/60/15s Currently I have 295/50/15 coopers and no complaints about them either
Hi, keep in mind the backspace needs to be PERFECT to fit those tires and you may still have to trim the inner wheel well and or bang in the inner fender.
I don't think I should have a issue seems to have some space now not really trying to go to much wider.
my 295s on 4.5" BS just fit... about 3/8" to the fender When I bought the BFGs, 255/60-15 all around, Discount auto had a deal with a $100 visa gift card when you buy 4 tires. Including the card my out of pocket was about $500 IIRC The coopers were supplied by Midas for free when the car was on CarFix, but I believe they are a just about $130 for the 295s
What is the width on those rims you guys are running with those tire sizes ? I was trying to buy some rims, and was needing to know what might be the biggest size rim/tire combination someone could run on a 1972 Buick GS ? There's a lot of choices out there when buying rims/tires, with Back spacing, width, etc, and I would hate to purchase something that would not fit, which is always possible. If anyone knows what the max rim/tire size one could run on a 1972 Buick GS (front & back), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Bill
Maximum rim size is 10" wide. Back spacing is 5 1/2- 5 5/8". Having said that, every car is different. It is NOT uncommon to have more room on one side than the other because the body is not EXACTLY centered on the frame. I would do some careful measuring before going that wide on the rims. 15 X 8" with 4.5" back spacing is no problem, but a 295 tire is about as wide as I would go on an 8" rim. Here is the relevant thread with pictures. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?15046-My-new-new-15x10-s-are-here!!!/page2
Kyle, do your homework before you pull the trigger. 325 tires need a 10" wide rim. How wide are your rims?
Got a quote from my tire guy today on Cooper Cobra's. 295x50x15 $ 136.00, 275x60x15 $111.00, 235x60x15 $ 97.00
