Unfortunately, they couldn't find anything with a 4spd manual transmission, so you'll be learning on a 1969 GMC 1/2 ton pickup with three on the tree. I'm sure it'll translate over.:Smarty:

    5/2/2016 Update:

This weekend I marathoned the better of three 8 hour days and got the Street Sleeper completely put together fired right up, zero leaks and moving on its own power. I have not taken it on the road yet as I ran out of time yesterday so next weekend after house chores I will take her out for some heat cycles.

That was a S-ton of work and I am feeling it today:TU:

Among other things, some highlights of the weekend were:

I scrapped the Derale electric fan and opted back to the new clutch fan.

I also have not connected the Nitrous back up yet. Not sure if I am going to install the injectors into the back of the 2" phenolic spacer similar to the way it was into the back of the Qet, or get a plate in there. At this point I am not planning on the shot so I have time to ponder it.

I changed the fuel supply hose routing to accomodate the ProForm and cleaned it up a bit.

I welded in the evac ports into the header down pipes to complete that system.

The driveline is actually a smidge shorter than preferred but it is within the tolerance so I will watch it and decide if it is making me too nervous. I was actually initially concerned it was going to need a smidge taken out if it with the QP9" swap.

I replaced the piston in the McLeod 1300-1 T/O bearing to make up the clearance needed.

I also laid out and cut the hole in the hood and started prepping the ready the Stage 2 scoop to color match the paint. I won't be dropping the $500 for the 68 GTO air cleaner / hood set up anytime soon so it will live with the K&N open element set up for the time being.

    5/8/2016 Update:

Tackled some house chores today and spent most of the day relaxing at the patio.

On Monday I made a couple of 15 minute test drives to get some heat cycles on the QP9"rear. Everything appears to be operating well. I love the Vgate shifter; what a blast! This is One Pissed Off Skylark! Can't wait for some track action. More drives tomorrow.

I painted and installed the STAGE2 scoop. Paint is good match just not faded like the rest of the car. I am pleased with it.

I am waiting for new carpet that should arrive this week and I will install the new front piece next weekend, and got the bottom of the door carpets so the interior should be finished off.

I ordered the Sportstar plate from my pals at Nitrous Supply to botton back up the N20 system - I am going to start with .041" N20 AND .037" FUEL jets. With Bottle pressure 900psi and 6.0 psi fuel should add a 70-75 bump.

    05/14/2016 Update:

Uh oh, look out....Nitrous system buttoned up.

    Nitrous supply plate installed,
Proform carb tapped and momentary WOT switch installed and wired.
    Fuel supply to regulator plumbed.
    I opted to start with .047" N20 and .043" Fuel for the 100 shot:TU:

It doesn't jump right out at you but solenoids are visisble and the fuel feed in the front under the carb...

I plan to put 400 miles on the car before beating on it. Raining today so no test drive.

The control panel is a still a bit crude. It has the autometer prolight indicator for low oil pressure and hot water temp, bottle heater switch, N20 arm switch, nitrous firing blue indicator and the roll cotrol indicator light. One of these days I'll tackle making the panel look more pro.

The new carpet and the piece of Fat Mat for the floor hump arrived so tomorrow I may install that and the lower door panel carpeting which will button up the project for the time being...:TU:

I am contemplating installing the new lower front spoiler. I have one of Duane's stashed but I am affraid it will prompt a rear spoiler which will blow any Street Sleeper look.

Plan to Drive for 400 miles then get this SOB to the Bremerton Raceway for some real fun.

    Early cocktail hour...Cheers!

    05-15-2016 Update:

I got an hour in the shop before chores this morning wanting to tackle front carpet install.

The RockAuto offering color was lighter and not the same quality I have. I was hoping to use just the front piece of the kit as my carpet is essentially new. NO GO.

I decided to try the front piece I had. I trimmed it and it was almost perfect. It lays in using same holes in floor for seat mount bolts, and required only minor trimming of the existing hole from the stock type of floor hump. I can live with it. I would have the same issue with any premolded kit as the floor hump section I built is so pronounced. The plastic heel mat rides up the tunnel side a bit, but IDGAF!!! looks good and works fine.

Overall, I am very pleased with it, returning the RockAuto kit! Next I will tackle the lower door panel resto / carpeting.

    Cheers!

Timing locked on distributor has punished the Ameron mini starter...the Mallory box only retards 10 degrees, with that a buck, snort, kick = broken nose. Ameron dead..

Ready to drop in the Power Master 9511 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwm-9511

    05/24/16 Update

Knocked some punchlist items off this weekend and put more miles on. Touched WOT a couple times and Holy Puck!!! Yup, Dean, it's scarry!

The Powermaster 9511 starter is not compatible with 4 speed Lakewood Bellhousing block plate. I installed a OEM rebuild for the time being. Works great, just heavy.

Still have a hot start issue either charging or heat sink issue. I think I have dialed it down to what appears to be a charging issue as Alt maxes out at 12.8 V. I will haved it tested but already planning to upgrade to a 100A but not happy with the offerings so far. Keep shopping.

Some detail work done and took better pics with I Phone

Nice symmetry in your rear end... (things I never thought I'd say for $1000, Alex) but that's the view most people will have anyhow. May as well be visually appealing!

You need some "Custom 455" emblems to round things out on the sleeper front. Was it a Custom model, originally?
