Hi Guys, I have a 67 Skylark 2dr. Hardtop, looking for the chrome molding that goes on top of the door, and is also the window felt, and there is the matching piece by the back seat windows. This is approximately 44" long, 1" wide but has a step on it. The rear molding is about 20" long and curves up near the back. The back piece actually fits on the quarter, because of the lack of a backdoor. Anyone have any suggestions where I can find these? I need all 4 pieces. Thanks

    Hi Lawrence,

If I am understanding you correctly, I can tell you that the stainless piece and window felt are one assembly. OPGI is a great source for Buick parts. Chrome piece over the window? Do you mean the stainless drip rail piece that runs the length of the roof over the windows?

Sorry, I don't mean the drip rails, these actually fit on the top of the door, when you roll the window down, and you put your arm out the window, they go the full length of the door, and the rear portion of the back seat glass. So picture this, when you roll down both the front and back window,, on a hardtop, there is no pillar, and this chrome fits the full length of the door and back seat glass.

Here is a link of a black 67 skylark, look where the side mirror is, now look at the chrome I am referring to

I was trying to find the proper name for these moldings, I believe the are called Lower Window Sash Channel, OPGI has some, but only for 61-63 skylarks. It is page 128

That's called a reveal molding, or belt reveal molding. They were optional and not all that often ordered. Interestingly enough, the hardtop was equipped with anodized or plated aluminum ones, only the convertibles had polished stainless versions.

I really like reveal moldings and I ordered reproductions (listed for a GTO) for my 67 GS400 convertible restoration. They require specific window fuzzies and a different top well molding. None of the parts fit worth a hoot. I struggled with reshaping the moldings for nearly 30 man hours until I got a fit that was acceptable. The fuzzies are supposed to clip to the moldings but simply do not. I had to carefully drill through the fuzzie backing and install stainless screws to hold everything in place.

I'm not one to give up on mechanical things, but I must confess that I seriously considered returning to the original clip in window fuzzies and no reveal moldings more than once. Now that the job is done, I'm glad I did it, but I would suggest that you carefully consider the scope of this project before you start. You will need time, patience, resolve, sheet metal forming experience and ingenuity.

    Hi Tom,

Do the gto moldings like like the skylark? Where did you get them? Thanks for the information!

Look on ebay for '66-'67 GTO belt reveal moldings. That's what I used on my car. I was lucky and found an original set that were re-anodized(bright dipped) and looked brand new. Good luck....Nick

Ames, Pontiac list them for both, hardtop and conv. I am considering using them for my 66 hardtop but have been told they do not fit the best. Not sure if is the physical fit or the clips or screws that hold then in place. It appears they use different fuzzies. Ames will tell you they will not fit a Buick, but maybe that is because of the mounting or they just do not know. As stated here Buick people have used them and made them fit. I just wonder if any GTO Pontiac people have used them and did they fit without mods to the mounting. My other option is to have a set of original 66/7 hardtop ones, repaired and get a new set of fuzzies, Cars, Old Buick Parts list fuzzies for the wide moldings, not sure how the attach or fit.

Lawrence, you can get the Ames and make them work. You will spend a lot of time tweaking them. You are better finding a decent used set off a parts car. That is the direction I went and the install is way easier. Yes, you probably have to polish or replate but the finished product is much nicer.

  12. I have tons of 67 Buick stuff doing a LS 6.2 Swap not using a lot of original stuff?
