I have power drum now. I would like to move to front disk set-up. Ideally it would be a kit that would allow me to run OE Buick wheels; either steelies with dog dishes or Buick Ralleyes. Who offers a kit for the best bang/buck?
I'm kind of surprised that they weren't all disc brake by '73. I don't recall ever seeing a Chevy Nova of that vintage with front drums, and I worked at a dealer. Could have slipped by me, though. That, and my old iron-clad memory is showing some rust. Use it or lose it.
Thanks Larry. This kit isn't very fancy but It will allow me to keep my smaller wheels. http://www.ss396.com/nova/AFXDC14-9.html I'm not certain I like the "Proprietary" rotors though. It seems dual piston calipers require the larger rim.
If the pistons are side by side, yes you will need either 14" disc brake wheels or 15" wheels. When I upgraded to discs on my Skylark, I used the parts off a '72 Le Mans, single pistons worked fine.
Larry: Have you had dealings ieth the ss396 folks? Or know anybody who has? I called them a moment ago and had a strange experience.
I ask because they had no technical person available. I thought it was bit odd that the person who answered the phone could only tell me they were closing at 3:00. Not a bad experience, I just thought it would be easier to buy things from them.
