Some time ago there was an informative thread in here about windage trays and more, but I can't find it. I think Jim W posted some pics of some sort of a net. I want to do it on the new motor I am building for the stocker.
Hi Jan, I used a Canton Racing Windage Tray Kit. Its a one way mesh that you can mould to the shape you require. I used it on my Tomahawk engine. Cheers
I hate to say this, this one is more professional looking and I'm welling to bet it works a ton better too.
So would one use a crank scraper along with a form to fit kit like you fellers are describing , It would seem like the scraper may become an oil shelf, delaying the oil that lands on top, but the bottom side would do its job, . Have any of you fellers used both? I have a center sump riviera , I welded in an acceleration baffle, so when i take off the oil dont all go to the back of the pan at ounce, im sure most of it still does but not enough to expose the pickup, Has anyone put an oil pan in there lap and have there buddy drive you around to give an idear of what goes on in that pan? I would not put 5 quarts in it though for this , at least not in my car... This may be my next scientific expiearment , Like when I pick up a 400 and run accross the shop, and then did the 700. The 700 did provide quicker et.
Better than the tray ( or in combination with ) is a scraper who's edge is linked with sheet Teflon . The tray needs to be made to clamp the sheet to the tray, and the Teflon needs to rub the rotating parts such that once the motor fires over 30 seconds latter the Teflon has mated to everything and zero clearance is developed. The Teflon being about .004" too tight is what to shoot for.
does the heat of friction , and oil make the teflon sheet not rigid enough to deflect the oil ? wats the durability of it? seems kind of risky
