I wanted to know how many (I'm sure there has to be some), and what problems (hopefully none), anyone had running the Lectric Limited Points Conversion P/N: 38131 on a 1965 to 67 stock 355. Any advice and or information would be greatly recieved! 38131
JMO, but if you're thinking about replacing your original points, why spend the money? There is nothing wrong with points.
I believe that unit has a very good reputation. I know Jim lore (flynbuick) likes them. Why not put it into the search on V8 and see what you can find out?
Larry, I've been looking through a 12 page search, thought this might limit my research some, got a lot of Pertronics info in the results! This way may be it will be less general and exactly what I want to know!
I installed this points conversion in my totally original and stock 64 Special 300 mainly due to the one wire set-setup (using the original coil wire) and the fact many Corvette owners use this brand. Those guys are so picky about originality I figured I would go with this brand. I installed this over a year ago with no problems whatsoever. In fact it runs better than it ever has, looks original and can be easily changed back to points (in the glove box) if necessary. Nothing wrong with new technology, if it works.
I've been using this set-up for about 12 yrs. now. ONLY ONE problem in those 12 yrs. which was taken care of immediately.
Larry, Seems like a lot of hit and miss with the Pertronix Kits, mainly the initial set-up. Regards, Doug
Tom, This info makes me feel good about this conversion, sounds like they stand behind their product as well. Thanks for the insight! Regards, Doug
Tom, If you don't mind my asking what was the issue you had? Was it taken care of by them, or was it something you had to work out on your end? Thanks, Doug
Doug, Like I said, I've been selling them for over 12 yrs. now. Only one comeback out of MANY sold. The car wouldn't run correctly & I traced it to the electronic unit. Tom T.
