Hardly overpriced IMO, since plain Jane skylarks are selling for close to $10k.

If its not all original, what does it matter what the VIN tag says. Wouldnt a clone be just as valuable since the drive train is lost to time?

at what percent original is a GS no longer a meaningful GS? If all that is left is a cowl, cowl tag and vin tag and you build it back using many other non GS cars with the same part numbers, is it really still a GS and worth same?

IMO numbers matching would be nice but I think it is over rated. If I was a young guy in 1970 and was able to buy the fastest muscle car built ( a Stage 1 ), I would not give it a second thought not to mash the gas peddle to the floor when I felt like it. Engines can be rebuilt/replaced : )

I'm never touching my 73 Stage/4 spd car.... its only original once. 100k mile California car....Looks like hell up close, but I drive the wheels off it...

hard to believe that a car that had a top powertrain option S1 that has no original powertrain left would be worth 50% more than a gs 455 of similar condition

Owner says " I am open to any REASONABLE offers. I know I have priced this car high for the condition and not being numbers matching but I really don't know what this car is worth so I figure I can always come down. "

I hope he gets close to his price. Neat car, not a rust bucket, and rare. Numbers or not, still a stage 4 speed.

I think if someone was looking for a car to restore or even just drive as is, they would be better off buying mine for $10k+ or so more. I would think the rust repair and paint cost for that one would far exceed the price difference in the two cars plus the cost to put a 4 speed back in mine, and mine still has the numbers matching engine..............
