My interior is also buckskin however, all the buckskin paint I've tried doesn't match I had yo get the paint shop to mix some.
Here's some update ... got my car out of storage this tuesday ! Instaled 2 brand new 300W 6X9 Pioneer in the back and 2 4 inches round Pioneer in the front held by a home-made tray ! Pretty solid actually ! lol I went from 2 radios to none !! Gotta find some terminals tomorow to complete the instalation ! Made a quick test and it fits like a glove !

Yes I like it way better like that . The only thing missing is the "random" button but otherwise it's all good. I use the buttons that came with the radio. I start installing the "female" terminals but I found that every speakers wire that came out of the radio were "male/female" for each one ... so I have to do it again for half of them , lol !
Donald Looks really nice and I can see the attention to detail on the wiring. No wad of black tape ;-) You should add a little shim behind the two top bevel screws --maybe a little rubber washer or two, it would square up the horizontal edge of the bezel. Have you tried out the radio features? How is the reception, etc?
I tried the USB almost all the time yet .... but pretty soon I'll program the radio station and give you what I think . The one thing missing on with the USB device is a "random" button if you don't want to hear always the same songs over and over .... but I'm gonna do multiple files with 7 to 10 songs each and skip the files to compensate . Not to hijack the thread but this is what I'm working on now... Sorry the pics are not in order but I'm better with a car than I am a 'puter... First I connected my KHE-300 head (spec'd at 50 watts per channel, 4-channel) to the speakers that the previous owner had mounted, facing forward, in the stock rear location where they also happen to get dented by the dropped convertible top. I ran an old Optimus XL-110 amp via pre-amp outputs into the already mounted Audiovox TRY-32 speakers. The speakers were junk before the top crushed them but they weren't torn so they were a starting point. The sound was muffled and the top end was deadened. I wasn't expecting much more considering the location and speakers though. Now for the pics... I mounted two Kicker 44KSC3504, 50-watt rated speakers in the stock location driven by the alleged 50-watts per channel from the KHE head. They were practically inaudible even with the fader set to full front. After all the work making the mount, I pulled them and they're going back to Crutchfield's tomorrow. After the discouraging results with the front speakers and having a gaping hole where the previous owner had attempted to mount round speakers directly in front of the convertible top's hydraulic ram... I came up with the following. Now please realize that this setup is just a prototype, if you will, and certainly not the finished product. I simply extended the hydraulic ram's cover panel, enlarged the already gaping hole in the stock cover panel, added a 1 1/2" speaker spacer and put an old pair of Kenwood KFC-6976, 160-watt rated 6" x 9" speakers on the new panel. The new panel extends to the ashtray and still allows plenty of room to operate both the ashtray and the 1/4 window crank. Because of the 1 1/2" spacer, the speakers intrude, somewhat, into the rear passenger area but aren't that bad for adults and not an issue for children (with the exception of deafness)... Looking at it now that it's fitted in place, I don't think the 1 1/2" spacers will be necessary on the finished product. Also, since I'll be replacing the stock cover panel completely on the finished product, I'm considering changing the 90* angle in front of the speaker to an angle TBD that begins behind the speaker and tapering as it goes forward. In essence, angling the speakers forward. As far as the sound goes and although the amp/speaker combo is at least 10 years old, the sound is clear, defined and most definitely LOUD! Being extremely hard of hearing from a few unfortunate work incidents, I tend to want things louder than most and this does the trick! On a two-hour drive to Lime Rock this weekend, the only time I heard ANYTHING other than the music was when I chose to lower the volume. Road noise is non-existent when I want it to be. [As an aside, does anyone know where I could get vinyl material that matches the interior to cover the new panels? I'm using a plastic fabric that I found by chance but I'd like to match the texture better.] As usual, Lime Rock was GREAT and it was nice to run the track up to a bit over 80 mph during the pre-race "parade" in a 48 year old, all mechanically original example of good, ol' American Iron on a weekend commemorating all of our fallen brothers and sisters.
