Found the source of some suspension creaking today.... the other side isn't so hot either. Needless to say I'm looking for a good pair of lower control arms for a 70 skylark.
I know I have the lower control arms,I have to make certain they are good.Tomorrow it will be done.Bruno.
WOW ! ! ! and your still alive ! ! and we are too .... it scares me to think of all the cars we drive by daily that have suspension/mechanical issues ready to grenade .. if bruno cant help I have a nice pair off a 68 low mile tempest ....
I have a fairly nice set out of a 1972 Skylark with 51,000 original miles. The bushings are still good and the car drove great prior to removing them. I believe these will clean up nicely as this was a rust free car. I have the upper arms also if interested. Will sell pretty cheap if the other guys above me can't help ya. I also have all new hardware for any suspension stuff if needed. Can be seen at www.DieCastMuscleCars.com/dcmbuickfasteners.htm
Awesome guys, Ill see what bruno comes up with first then work in order. I was pretty bummed out cause I was just getting back to driving the car again! Even had new RWL Micky Thompson s/t 245/60 15s finally show up to replace the skinnies the previous owner had .
I wouldn't be bummed ... your car is still straight ....and no one got hurt I have never seen that and I have owned over 200 gm cars 65-72 looks like you will need bolts and nuts and frame perches too got that stuff too
The rest of it looked pretty good suprisingly. The metal sleeve in the center of the bushing was protecting the bolt as the spring was pushing the arm down cutting through the 40 year old rubber and then slowly chewing the metal. Im sure installing the correct big block a/c springs last year just excellerated it to this point.
I have a set,but the re not usable.I will throw them out Monday. Its up to these other guy's,thanks.Bruno.
I have aright side or do you need both?? located in N. FLA shipping should not be to bad to Lexington. Johnny
Thanks for trying for me Bruno I really appreciated it! Judge will the 68 Tempest Lowers fit? I know there is a lot of interchange ability on gm stuff but my knowledge falls short getting into suspension particulars, anybody know for sure? If not I'll err on the side of caution and would think Todd has got the pair I'm wanting.
There is a round and an oval bushing lower front control arm, fyi. Appears from pic you have round/round style at both mount points
Hi 002 I am behind DC cars and yes the tempest uses the same a-body control arm .. mine are the round and oval bushing style.. it was GM's upgraded control arm ... most big block ... ac ... 4 bbl ... wagons ...converts... came with them ... its a good upgrade .... I will post pics tonite after work Scott 2o6 465 9i65
