My next project has to be a trailer hitch for the wagon. I was washing the camper today and decided to back the wagon up to it just to see how it looked. I like it!
You know if you want to get rid of that 'ole wagon, I might be convinced to take it off your hands! Seriously, a beautiful car. I am jealous...
I have come close to selling this car several times but that would leave me "Buickless" a condition I have not been in since 1985. The other problem is the car is not as nice as it looks from a distance. It needs body work and a repaint to be much more than a 20-20 driver. With the 455 smoger and a th-700 trans just too much fun to part with right now. Rest assured when the time to sell comes it will be advertised here first.
If you have any interest, I have a complete receiver type hitch off a 70-72 Sportwagon. I was going to use/adapt it on my '69 SW but I sold the car and unfortunately don't see myself getting another one.
Thanks but I have stuff around to build one. Just a matter of getting under the car and welding it up.
Well I should have picked up that hitch that was offered to me here. "Got some old hitch parts laying around. This will be easy." The saga nears an end. Would have been easy to just weld a hitch to the frame like I did on so many pickups at work over the years but wanted this to be bolt on as the next guy might not want a hitch. What a pain!! The end is in site now some wiring harness repair when the paint is dry and bolt it all on.
So, was this hitch made up of misc parts and welded together to fit the frame? From your note I assume you have made it so it now will bolt to the sides of the frame rails? I am very interested in doing the same on the 67 SportWagon so if you could send me a couple of close up photos if you have not yet bolted it on it would be much appreciated. You could send them to my email and I have sent you a PM Much thanks,
Chuck I will take some pic.s and send you an email. A wise man learns from a fools mistakes. So I will tell you about my mistakes on this project and hope that makes yours essayer. John
