we went to a car show in mass today. talked to some buick owners about their cars. had this one owner tell me he has stage 1 350 heads by t/a that had 2.02 int and 1. something wild exh #. told you can't fit them in there. no way, no how. I don't mind be given an education on something I may not know about, but this guy telling me I have no knowledge of anything when it comes to 350's. also told him our dragster has gone 9.8's in the 1/4. said it couldn't be done with a 350. maybe he had too much sun............
Every time I take my GS455 to a show a joker tells me that they had one in the 80's that ran high 10's. Oh and they always say they were 350 cars! I just smile and lead them on for more details.
I once had a guy at a car show tell me that his Mercury Marauder (4.6 Liter turbocharged) had been clocked on RADAR at over 190 mph. I believe about 20% of what I hear from people at shows.
I look at guys that spew that crap and say. "That must have been in the 1/8th." I don't care if I piss 'em off. I'm not planning on adding them to my friend list anyway.
It's worse with Corvairs. Everyone says how unsafe they are, leak oil, spew exhaust through the heater, had the Spyder Corsa Monza turbo with 5 carbs, blah blah. BUT it still gets more attention than a Camaro or Chevelle lol
