Interesting how the partial VIN on both engine and trans begin "70H". I wasn't aware GM had seven divisions back then. I know Chevy was 1, Pontiac was 2, Oldsmobile was 3, Buick was 4, GMC Truck was 5, and I believe Cadillac was 6. So which division was 7?
are the stampings on the block always so neat and readable? I don't recall them being that nice on my 70
As Jim mentioned, the engine serial number begin with 4 for a Buick, rather than 7? Gotta be a restamp! http://www.stage1registry.com/stage1info.html#1970 Troy
Yea trans stamp is light years off, way to big and far apart, you can make out lines around it too where the did there leveling Here is a 70 BB stamping
It's a restamp and whoever did it screwed up - in an effort to match the VIN, they wound up taking the last digit of the body code (7) as opposed to the division code (4).
That reproduction sticker was made in 2013 for a gentleman in Maryland so either he moved or sold the car since it is now for sale in Florida. I will not make a 70 Stage 1 sticker without Sloan, Roberts or some sort of factory proof that it is legit so the "Vin" left the factory as a Stage 1 but I cannot vouch for anything else. Has anyone asked them a question on why the stampings look that way?
