I am thinking of buying a 66 Buick Special from a friend with a 455 under the hood. The rest of the car is in very good condition with the gears shifter moved to the floor. I have classic Chevys so a Buick will be new to me. What would be a fair price range for a 66 Special? Is their any online aftermarket parts websites?
x2 need pictures at least. Or a better description. The Special is the base model, Skylark is the mid-level with nicer trim, and the GS is the high-end musclecar. If it's in good condition with nice paint, $5000-$15,000 would be my guesstimate. A GS would likely be $10,000 more.
There is little support for body parts. You would need to be more particular about the parts in question.
The major resto suppliers have a line of parts for Buick.... Year One, The Parts Place, etc. Many Chevelle and Pontiac parts interchange, so.... Ground Up, Ames, Fusick Olds, etc. Buick specialty sources include CARS for restoration stuff, T/A Performance for engine parts. Legendary Interiors has soft interior stuff. Sheetmetal, exterior trim, and chrome is not reproduced. Basic chassis mechanical parts are shared with other GM divisions. Rockauto has a good selection.
Thank your info is helpful, I will be picking up my 66 Buick Special in a few days I will upload pictures when I do. Thanks again.
It's an automatic with the gear shifter relocated to the floor. The 455 V8 and 400 tranny is from a early 70s GS stage one Skylark if I am not mistaken.
Once you have the car these guys with Stage knownledge will assist you in figuring out if it's a real stage motor or not.. Just keep asking questions
Here's a 1 owner e bay find I paid 5k for in excellent Oem condition 6 years ago. It needed a paint job and a few other minor repairs.
