Hey Guys , the interior color in my car doe's not seem to be very common. My convertible had a darker shade which I thought was tan and another friend has the dark burnished saddle. Wondering how many shades of Tan to Brown were available.[/ATTACH]
This could be a long list. Your photos show the 1972 only, code 367, "Black/Tan" interior. The tan vinyl used was a somewhat lighter shade than the "Saddle" and a somewhat darker shade than the "Sandalwood" interiors offered the same year. 1972 was a big year for two-tone interiors, and in addition to the "Black/Tan" the Sandalwood/Green combination, seen here, was offered with dark green dash, carpet, etc. The Saddle interior was not two-tone, rather most items (dash, head lining, carpet, etc.) were closely color matched. That is three distinct variations of tan interiors for 1972 alone.
Thanks for the info Jim. I always thought it was strange I hardly ever see my interior color. I just saw a 72 GS455 Convertible online. It was a white car with the same two tone Black/Tan interior as mine. Do you know if that color Tan which I think is the deluxe interior always came in combination with the black rug and dash ?
That particular shade of tan was specific to the Code 367 Black/Tan interior. It was configured in much the same manner as the white interior, which had black dash, carpet, etc. To my knowledge, the Black/Tan interior was not available in convertibles. Perhaps the car you saw was SCO.
You are on your game Jim , I looked up the white car it in fact was a hardtop , Great info thanks again
So that first pic is a 72 only shade of tan? I have 71 with a Sandalwood interior and I want to go with a darker shade. Mine is almost white. Burnished saddle is too dark. I like that color you have on your car.
I have to check but I remember one time not being able to find that color from any of the buick suppliers
