I have this 37 amp, external regulated, Delco Remy alternator I would like to decode. Part number 1100934. Date is 2H23. The first number should be the year, but is it 1962 or 1972? The H is for August and 23 is the 23rd day. Not having much luck with google.
Its a chevy alt with an August 23, 1972 date code, for a 73 model year car. It should be a 10si style int. reg. per the number but has been through a rebuilder and has the 10dn ext. reg. (pre 1971) rear and components.
A little trivia... GM's first production year for all vehicles with alternators was 1963 IIRC. I had a 1962 Impala SS that still ran a generator. Bigger cars with AC may have started earlier. The mechanics' probably thought "Merlin" was under the hood LOL... ws
Dang, here I though I had something special! It needs bearings too, so probably not worth a whole lot unless someone needs that date code.
The mid sized cars (Skylarks, Cutlass F85 etc) started receiving alternators mid production year of 62. But to my knowledge (from what I have researched) No full sized cars received them till the 63 model years. Keith
