Lots if truth right here. Lol
And coming from car guys cracks me up. Don't people say fast cars are to make up for a shortcoming in the manhood dept as well?
Guys saying that about diesels are probably the same guys wishing they had one to pull their own trailer with. Diesel envy.

I will agree about these coal rollers though. My truck is emissions deleted and tuned and runs clean. No smoke.
Certain trucks are better off deleted because the emissions equiment (mostly the earlier trucks) is harmful to the trucks longevity.

I have COPD and the ONE thing that really brings on a bad breathing is the smell of BURNT DIESEL so I have to avoid the exhaust if I can.

I don't have a problem in the world with diesel trucks. They are useful tools and can be made really cool and to perform really well. I have no need for one or I'd probably own one. The "mall crawler" trucks I mentioned earlier apply to anything, 1/2 ton, gas, whatever, it's just usually 3/4 or 1 ton diesels in my neck of the woods. It's the blowing soot thing that royally pisses me off.

Sitting at a stop light one sunny summer day in my econo-box DD on my way home from work, this bro-truck special edition superdooty ford pulls up next to me. He's inching forward and I hear the exhaust indicating its not stock, but didnt think much of it. About the time the exhaust comes up beside my open drivers window and I get a wiff of exhaust, before I can grab my window crank to roll it up, this fool gooses it and pump the iside of my car full of smoke. Couldnt breath, eyes burning, the whole nine. Angry wasnt the word.....

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

I have witness these a-holes at events like Back to the Bricks in Flint and Metro Cruise near G.R. Michigan. There are people, some with young children, lined up along the main road to watch the cruisers as they pass. You'll get some jerk in a diesel who will think it funny to blast black smoke into the crowd. I won't be surprised to witness some pissed off Dad, whose kids were blasted, pull one of these a-holes out of the truck and beat the hell out of them. It's bound to happen, if it hasn't already. The cops, who are on 'burnout alert' should ticket them when they see it.

My stock 95 7.3 Dually doesn't blow smoke or isn't obnoxious to others. All I have done to mine is a 4 inch stainless steel cat deleted exhaust, pyrometer gauge and boost gauge.I just laugh at all the young kids throwing insane money at these trucks and none of them pull trailers or haul things with them..I looked for 8 months for my truck.Looked at 5-10 others. My only thing was 1. No stupid stacks sticking out of the bed,2.No tuner and 3. 2wd with a 7.3..I had a to look at several trucks till I got old Ray..I have owned it 5 years now and still enjoy driving it. Best I ever got mileage was 17.9. I don't drive it daily but it's there when I need a trailer pulled and pellets hauled..I guess I am getting old...lol

I've seen a-holes do that stuff before. They deserve a beat down.
A lot of tuners out there now won't even build a smoke tune. EPA is cracking down on them.

I see em lined up at the high school. Alot of money in them!

When I was in HS in the 70s I was jealous of the muscle cars lined up....times change.....

While I don't totally disagree with you, I was curious to the reasoning of approaching some one and asking them what gives them the right to park somewhere if they were legally parked. If they weren't you could have maybe let them know they were illegally parked, or told them there exhaust was going in the store or something less confrontational. I don't agree with your assessment that 99% of diesel truck drivers are pricks. It is more apt to be the other way around.

Is violence an answer to a problem such as this?

It is interesting to note the appeal for clean air . . . except when the EPA is involved.

Where's our happy medium? To me, it looks like this:

    Don't be a jackhole

If you take the ferry from Wood's Hole in MA to either Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, you will see literally a dozen signs that say that you cannot idle your vehicle for more then five minutes. The police are present in quantity, and ignore this completely. I once watched a bus parked directly in front of one of these signs idle for more then 45 minutes. the cops ignored it completely. The staging area for the ferry stinks!

If some jackass purposely blows soot on my wife or kids there will be violence involved....guaranteed. Feel free to lecture someone else.

So while we're on the subject, and maybe this only pisses me off, the gas pump is NOT a parking spot while one goes into the store to order a sandwich or buy smokes or whatever, especially when there are limited diesel pumps or @ a busy time of the day. I might do it @ midnight when I'm the only one and there are 20 open pumps. And I won't even rant about people lingering in the left lane.

I agree with the above - sorta. I would never leave my car at the pump to go inside to buy a big gulp, but I will leave it at the pump to go inside to get a receipt when the pump is out of paper. If I don't leave the car at the pump, someone will pull up and reset the pump. I match all credit card receipts with my statement at the end of the month - no receipt, no pay.
