Use Escrow.com. Both parties are protected and it's easy.

 

The buyer has proof the car is as the seller stated. I just can't get over the fact that something as simple as "money first" is to difficult for some to understand. I have bought, sold, and been burned a couple times with classic cars. 3 things to always remember: title, money first, and the cars condition.

 

i believe it's accepted practice that any kind of deposit is not refundable. otherwise it really undermines the whole point of a deposit.

 

I've always specified up front one way or the other and even when I've offered up a deposit as non-refundable, I've had sellers say that if the car isn't what I expected, they'd refund it anyway. Seems like this whole deal should've been spelled out more clearly from the beginning and given the OP's unrealistic expectation that the car would be loaded prior to payment being received, I can see your point, however given the seller's somewhat rocky (being kind) start to this process on here and the fact that he's posted elsewhere and eaten some humble pie, it would show some goodwill to the community @ large - Even if they were to split it maybe that would be reasonable.

 

i see your point. however, the car isn't even listed for sale on this board. how he acted a couple weeks ago is not relevant.the buyer ended the deal, not the seller. therefore the buyer loses his deposit. once this deal is over the seller will likely disappear from the board for good.

for what it's worth, when spending that much money, why not spend an additional grand and look at the car in person and be prepared to buy??

 

I'm certain that the buyer really wants that car. It's been checked out by a trusted third party and is legit. The seller still wants to sell. So, if it were me, I'd apologize to the seller for the inconvenience, pay him and get the car. No way the seller, especially after the postings here, is going to rip anyone off. Buyer gets nice car. Seller gets money. = BOTH parties happy. Complete the sale guys.
Then have the mods delete the thread. Everyone's happy.

 

I agree Jerry, both parties win on this deal. Put the hard feelings aside and get er done.

 

I can certainly see your point too. Agreed on looking @ it. I'm not saying I'd never do it, but I haven't yet. I have had had sellers insist on it though.

Yes, you have two parties that have agreed on a deal with one small glitch. Get 'er done.

 

Considering the car was NOT for sale on the V8buick.com website, the OP is unjustified in even initiating a feedback on something that was OUTSIDE the realm of V8buick.com. Just my two cents.
