I'm outside of ft. Lauderdale and realize that is way down south for most in Florida and for those in the border states. what if we tried to coordinate a meet in central Florida (somewhere between Sebring and Orlando)? Could probably piggyback on another event. For example, Carlisle does a fall and winter autofest swap meet in Lakeland. the next one is coming up on Feb 23, but of course I am not suggesting we try for that date. Or can piggyback on Rolex/Daytona races and meet a little further up in Daytona. I'm sure there other events we can use to make the drives worthwhile for everyone. hector
Stephen from down under didnt drive his car or have it transported from Oz. He flew into California on a visa to take a holiday and bought the car over there then drove it across the country. When he bought the car he looked up and joined V8Buick. Thats where he met all of us. When his visa forced him to exit the country the car was stored in S Ga at another members house. When Stephen returned he picked up the car and toured around then went to BG. The big ole boat has been sense sold but Stephen stays in contact with some of us through Facebook
Id be down with a central Fl meeting. Possibly Old Town in Kisissmee? Meet up for the Friday and or Saturday night cruise.
Hey Steve and HVRam, I'm good with a trip to old town! Steve and I met up there once and had a real good time. What show was that Steve? It was an open car show, but there were lots of Buicks there. Hector, I believe, I now know two more people in your area kinda, Ft. Lauderdale. Gary has his mom's original 68 GS400 4 speed and I can't think of his name right off the bat, but he has a 69 GS400 convertible somewhere around I595 west. Count me in if it's not summer time. I go to Virginia each summer. Hector, my wife and sons will be going to BG this October. It's not during the week. It starts during the week but the best days are Friday and Saturday. I'll be retired next year so I'm going for the week. My wife and sons will be meeting up with you Steve for the cruise to BG Wednesday night. Hector, you only have to miss two work days if you leave Wednesday night.
maybe we can organize a pre Nat regional in Kissimmee in late sept./early oct. I think there are at least half a dozen members in the Tampa area already. As for the Nats. maybe I can fly in for fri and sat. but time and cost to either drive or ship my car to BG not in the budget.
???? Your not going to BG again? The show at Old Town was a BOPC event hosted by the Olds Club of Florida. They still do the show but at a different location further S and W.
Oh I'm going good buddy!!! Read the post again. I think I said I'm going for the WEEK!!! Retirement will be AWESOME!!!
Hector, If you fly up we will pick you up at the airport!!! The GS Nationals is the BEST car show in the world!!!!!!!!!!! The people are the most friendly you ever met!!!! I have been going since my son was 2 back in 1992. I won't lie, I know you're a lawyer, lol! Steve and a BUNCH of us stay in the campground right next to the track. I have to be a smartass.... We don't camp very roughly. We take over the bath house and pavilion. We turn it into a 9 car carport with bathrooms, hot showers, and everything you need. I am very serious, if you don't camp, or don't like camping, get a hotel room soon, and you can borrow my truck for the weekend. Between my sons and I we will have 3 Buicks and 2 trucks that pulled 2 of the Buicks there. Come, party, and have a GREAT time!!!!!
Hey Steve.... I already said I'm going for the week. I think you told me you volunteered last year. Count me in!!! I've done everything but help. I'd like to help the effort!
Is there a specific post board to reach out and see if there are members in the Chattanooga or Tennessee area?
Most folks around here (Minnesota) know about the local chapter shows, They may not attend for one reason or another. I haven't been to the Spring Extravaganza in a few years but that is for personal reasons... THE MSRA Back to the 50's meet wont allow my 72 in as it is too new, my 54 isn't even close to being ready. The Car Craft Summer Nationals or whatever they are calling it now has priced me out of attending with my car. If something was organized nearby I may attend, I should probably just head up to Pine City to get a tour of the new TSP shop. Me and another guy (57 Ford) put on an annual show at our local American Legion every year, this year it is August 26th if anyone want to come by. We get about 100 vehicles, its free and give dash plaques and a few trophies. Just me rambling...
