I was wondering if anyone knew if the front spindles on a 69 skylark with stock disc brake mounts will fit on a 69 Riviera with stock drums? I'm exploring different options to adding disc brakes to my Riv and I can get the skylark spindles cheaper (local to me) than the scarebird brackets.
They are not the same. Not saying it couldnt be done but if it was that easy we'd all have done it by now. I have a complete disk set up from a 70 Impala. One day I will attempt to open up the holes for the ball joints and see if they can be made to work.
Yes I have. I have another thread on here about looking into doing a corvette C5 swap but it's actually more hassle than it's really worth so I abandon that and looking at a more simple approach. The issue with the kits are you have to order replacement parts (which takes a week or tow) and if you're on a road trip and somthing breaks now you're really f**ked cause you have to wait for parts to be shipped out instead of walking into a local napa or auto parts place. Thanks for the input I appreciate all and any help!!
Have you looked at the Scarebird kit? They typically provide a bracket and a list of off the shelf parts needed. https://scarebird.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=61
Yes I have. I spoke with Mark from Scarebird he helped me put with some questions I had. I think I'm leaning towards them unless I can come up with another way. But as we all probably know these buick don't have a million mod choices like the "other" car companies ha ha. But that's why I love em and the hunt is half the fun!
Message Yardly. Jeff has been around the block with this upgrade and knows exactly what you need to do.
Ok Thanks I probably will pick his brain on this topic. I've read his page numerous times but there's no mention of him doing the rear disc conversion. Mark at scarebird has the brackets for the rear and emailed me a pdf file on the parts required.
I am currently putting Wilwood discs on my 69 cat, will start a thread once I get the parts together and post pictures, should be a couple of weeks. I’ve scoured the junkyards and as the experts have pointed out, no other make fits and but believe wildcat/riv/Electra use same parts. It’s getting discs on the back also. Drum spindles and the rare disc brake cars spindles are the same. Gordon
Keep me posted on how the build goes I'm interested to know how it goes. I am looking into different kits online for the front but for the backs it's not as common to do. Like I said earlier in this post scarebird does have brackets and setup info for the 69 Riv not sure if it will work on your cat?
