Hey guys! I am Drake and I have a 1965 Buick Skylark. I will be building it and found this site to be a great resource for information. I have planned a complete frame off restomod build. Here is a little information about my car's current status. Well that won't last long. It will be getting the new LT1 and a supercharger down the road. Thank you for the warm welcome! Thank you!
Welcome aboard from the west coast here.. Nice looking 65, I hope you can post a pic of the dash panel also..I have been looking for ideas to do something with my 65 also..
Thank you! I have attached an image of the front of the interior. I can get you a better picture of the dash tomorrow though. I’m going to be redoing my dash, albeit in a similar style to this. Thank you!
Welcome from Illinois from not only another `65 Skylark member but also a sbc powered `65 Skylark. When it becomes possible to build a very streetable sbb to perform like my very streetable sbc without hanging twin turbos on it, my Buick will return to a Buick powered Buick. Sorry guys. Until then, I still love my car.
Thank you! My opinion on engine swaps is get the most power for the money with the greatest street driven reliability. Bonus points if you can keep it manufacturer specific, extra bonus points if you can be brand specific. Until Buick releases a modern sport variant with an LT1/4 I'll be planning on swapping in a modern Chevy engine.
Well, I don't do a lot of shows and when I do it's mostly local shows. We spend more nights at cruise nights but what I have discovered over the years is that while most people know what a Chevy engine looks like but very few people know what belongs in a `65 Buick Skylark so with that I decided to have some fun with mine, and I not only fool almost all Buick guys around here but a heck of a lot of Chevy guys as well.
Small world! My favorite state! Thank you! Well just about anything will pull on me with my open diff BOP and tired SBC. Thank you! That’s great!
Welcome, from west Michigan, Drake! Very clean Skylark. Any underhood pics? Bill, I did a doubletake. Engine looks a lot like a 300! I can see where it would fool many.
