The date code is 173rd day of 1970, and 430 with auto trans.

Can't be 1970 as the 455 was available by that time & NO MORE 430's. Maybe 1969???

The 7027248 was a late production Quadrajet for the 67 430. There were several improvements in the carburetor design compared to early production.
For performance and reliability, the 7027248 would be preferred over the early 7027240.

As many of you are aware, the fourth digit in the carburetor number denotes the year. The numeral 7 in this case refers to 1967.

Interestingly, for the 1968 Riviera, the early Rochester Quadrajet is number 7028240 and the late 1968 model year production is 7028248.

Correct. This is the carb I'm running in my 67 with the AIR installed. I've actually got a couple of these...7027241 is the early version.
