Yeah, this would be nice; - and he's only trying to recoup what he's got in labour so far. Bet what happened was he got it started and then his restorer told him he'd eventually be into it for $110 K when all was said and done. This would be a great project for a skilled "do-it-yourselfer", of which I can't say I'm one.
OK V8 Buick People: Ya really gotta look at this one carefully. What if the rust work wasn't done to high standards? What if....is a predominant theme here. Any competent builder will start with a solid car and can dismantle it to this state pretty quickly. I say adjust the price to what a good deal is on most of the individual components and you would have a $2,00 project. Mitch
The guy is probably dreaming (and understandably so) that he will recoup his labor costs. Considering all the time and money I put in to get my car to that state, I would say he is being fair. As is, I wouldn't pay more than about 10 grand. The parts car is a nice feature not to be overlooked.
FYI- The guy passed away. A friend of the family is selling it for the widow. Best standing offer so far is $10,500
