I am looking for a AM antenna (non-electric) for a "64 Skylark. I've tried several aftermarket types and can't find anything that is durable or even works decently. I've been searching Ebay for nearly a year now. If anyone has any suggestions, fire away! Thanks, Dave

'64 antennas are pretty rare. I haven't seen one in a while, but I think it was Buick Farm that I last saw one. Can't remember for sure. Nice looking Skylark you have! What is the color on it? Looks sharp!
Fusick Oldsmobile makes a repro for the 64_65 442 and it is a very nice match! Has the push in stem just like the original! Part # 569310
Thank you! I'm pretty proud of it. It's Marlin blue or something fairly close ...it was repainted at some point. I've put considerable time into making all the little things right! Your's looks pretty nice too, I like the white color. With Keith's help, hopefully I land an antenna soon!
http://www.impalas.com/1964-1965-front-antenna-assembly-with-cable.html?___SID=U I purchased one of these. Very high quality part. Sturdy construction, great finish, telescoping, and a good base.
Anything you want to know, just ask. The cliff notes: Out with the 300/2bbl, ST300, 2.72 open, in with a 401 (out to 407) 2x4, T-10 wide ratio, Strange Dana S-60 3.54 S-Trac. Ford big ends. Complete UMI front and rear suspension, Proforge heavy duty steering links, close ratio steering box, and Wilwood discs all around. Tom Telesco hi-torq small starter. EFI in tank fuel pump, Aeromotive regulator with loopback into tank. Upgrades to electrical front, engine and dash harnesses to include dual (parallel) rear relays for the fuel pump with safety oil pressure switch to shut off fuel pump at zero oil pressure. Relays for headlights, volt meter, battery disconnect switch and relay to switched power (added a single position wiper switch in place of cigarette lighter). LEDs for everything but the headlights. Dual senders for oil and temp so I have all the idiot lights in addition to the oil, temp and volt gauges. (I used the 1965 right side dash bezel as it has the same profile as the speedo, and not flat like the 1964) Sorry to the OP for the thread drift.
Awesome car Michael! I've read a lot of your posts and enjoy them. First I remember seeing your car, couldn't resist asking about it. My apologies to the OP for hi jacking too. I just feel like we need to support each other and let people know we appreciate their hard work. Back to the previous program
I could not have done this without parts, assistance with the wire harness mods, parts and more without the many folks here and 65gs.com. And if I tried to name names, I fear I would offend someone by unintended omission. I have owned Buicks since 1975 and am smitten with them and the folks that love them. Someone said "Buicks are the underdog", and we are fortunate that "Buicks" are our (second) best friends. My gratitude to all.
That antenna deal looks promising if it doesn't go sky high. I paid $125 for a NOS antenna mast only, and that was 5 years ago. I still see the teardrop bezels and black nut for sale on ebay. I purchased these and they are nice pieces. Thanks for the compliments! I really enjoy my car and try to make improvements as often as I can.
Believe it or not there are three different versions of the correct antenna for 64-65 's most came from the factory with the big bead on the end of the antenna! The two replacement gm styles have smaller beads on the end! One of the smaller bead style also has a beveled grooves in top of the bottom of the mast! I would post pics of all three plus the repro if I could here
Hey guys: Are the 63 skylark antennas different? I have a really nice 63 antenna that I am not planning on using. Keith
Post a pic, it would be interesting to see. I understand the '63 door mirror is the same as '64 with a different interior bezel. So maybe they share some other parts? Mirror changed in '65.
Let's see if I can get these pics on! Top of pic is nos production style, middle is Fusick repro, bottom is nos replacement style!
Thank you everyone for all the great info! I'd be happy with any of the three styles and hopefully it makes my stock AM radio more usable too. I can only receive 2, maybe 3 stations with plenty of static and whine. The aftermarkets were no help. No worries, TrunkMonkey, I enjoy reading about all the cool things you've been able to do with your 'lark! It looks fantastic!
If your am is in good working condition a company called RediRad makes a excellent fm and iPod converter! This just pugs in and a power source! Works excellent! We use a old cell phone with music on it for all day cruising! Commercial Free!
I was able to win the auction on the ebay OEM antenna for $70+shipping, pretty happy with that. I'll be checking into that RediRad option, sounds like it will be perfect for Cruisin' the Coast! Thanks to everyone for the great creative input, I think I've found my "online home" here at V8Buick!
