    Um...no.
Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely stunning as far as Rivs go, but that kind of money? - Not yet. I'd love to own this, but if I spent that much, I'd be scared to drive it. And cars like that are meant to be driven and enjoyed, not left laying around as lawn ornaments.

OK V-8 Buick People: Look Seinfeld, Cars and Coffee with comedian George Wallace. This is the yummiest 65 Riv I have EVER seen. While there are a few 65 Riv guys who know them better than me in the ROA forum....there's not too many. Mitch

It would help the price if it was a GS and had the 2-4 bbls. looks like the ultimate Riviera and I agree it would be tough to drive and get a paint ding or scratch.

One at Scottsdale just went for $117,700. I think the maroon one last year was 125k if I'm not mistaken. Those were both GS cars though.

I think we will see fine examples of these Rivs start to routinely bring the bigger dollars, not all, but just the ones done right. I think we will see the same happen on the 66-67 and 71-72 as well in the not to distant future. Of course the GS ones are going to really bring the premiums. They are finally getting their due again. I will note that the black accessory trunk mat in the one in the thread is the wrong color, it should be the fawn (brown) shown in my 67.

What are the correct years for black vs brown trunk mat? BTW, there was also a gray version.

It is a very nice car, Eric did an excellent job restoring it. I remember emailing with him about it back in 2009 before I found my 65 Riv Gran Sport. IIRC, he was over $60k into it, not counting about 1500 hours of his labor. He wanted in the $40's then. Not sure when he sold it / when this guy bought it.

69 was definitely black and 67 was definitely fawn, could have been 68(my parts books are all still in PA to verify for sure). I have sold ALOT of NOS floor mats and trunk mats over the years and have never seen, seen listed, or heard of a Gray Buick trunk mat. Only Fawn and Black in any any of the books. I also checked with another Buick guy that has been dealing in NOS Buick mats for decades and he as well said no gray for the removable accessory trunk mat.

That's what I thought, but I bought a gray one some years ago at Hershey. This was long before the repro's became available. Used it for a while and resold it after I found a brown one.

I would guess it was a black one that had pigmented the color out, could have even been a second - I have had lots of NOS mats that while in good condition the color had leeched out of them. They were often stored in dealerships attics and hot spaces. If it didn't have the white trishield in the middle it could also have been a later one in the 80's, I believe they were all one color and I have no clue what colors might have been available in those. But the style in the Riv & my trunk only came in the 2 colors

Not a GS and lacks options but you will never restore one for that money. As Keith stated these cars are really coming on strong. In a few years this will be a bargain. If I had the money I would buy it. Tom

Agreed; some day these 1st gen Rivieras will finally be worth a ton of money; it's just that there are so many survivors, and most in reasonably good shape. This has been keeping the prices down, there's ample selection "out there" and a lot of variety in prices. Some originals in similar condition are going for less, so why pay for an over-restored monster of an undetermined pedigree?
Supply and demand; so far supply is still outstripping demand, therefore this thing is a bit ambitious when it comes to pricing.

Hi Marc, I respectfully disagree. There are not many TRUE survivors in first Gen Rivs out there and especially the `65 models. Many cars I encounter have been restored or thoroughly massaged not just once, but twice and some a third time at this point in time. For instance, it is rather rare now to find a car with decent original paint. Just another/my opinion,
    Tom
