Don, these are '69's. IIRC I paid $100 plus the ride for these on this site but I can't find any paperwork or the thread. I glass bead blasted them and did nothing else-that was probably 5 years ago. They seem very rigid side to side ( little in the way of rivet wear). Extend and retract on both moves the same and they feel very good other than a little media is still in the parts. One has some light pitting on the fender plate that would basically be in the shadow of an extended hinge. Looking to get my hundred back. Thanks.
From the pictures they look like 70 -72 hinges. Are you sure there for a 69 have you tried them on a 69 fender?
Not now lol. All out of '69 fenders or other hinges for that matter. It is possible they're 70's. I parted out a '70 GS455 while I was doing my '69, but I thought these were hinges I bought off this site. The quickest way for me to seperate 69/70 hinges is by this bolt hole . 69 is slightly offset compared to 70.
I misunderstood DL, I thought he meant edge distance but you're saying the hole itself should be oblong? When looking at the pictures Doug had posted in the ad above, it appeared to me that one hole is "between" the two hinged arms on a '68-69 where as on the '70-72 it is not.
The red arrow refers to the hole between the arms. I'm guessing Buick moved the bolt holes completely outside the arms for ease of assembly and maybe even for the assemblers safety? Am I looking at that correctly?
