Bought this on Ebay the other day. It was a complete shifter but someone bent the living hell out of it to fit something. Horrible. Who would do such a thing?? Seller didnt list it specifically as a Buick shifter but its a 5335. Got it for $75 plus shipping. Shifter mech is gobbed up bad with grease, gunk and mung....gross I have a friend who is an absolute awesome welder and fabricator. Im going to give it to him and see of he can get it bent back in shape. His normal charge for Hurst shifter handle repairs is a 12 pack of Bud. I'll post up some "after" pics when I get it back. If you mount that in a normal Buick GS, you'd probably be bashing the radio in 1st and 3rd. Reverse would likely break the heater controls.
No, I got that from putting headers on my 71 GS back in 1978. I think I took the hide off of at least 4 knuckles. Looked like I'd been punch concrete walls... or cast iron manifolds.
I was finally able to pin my welder buddy down and have him take a look at this poor shifter. Took some doing on his part to get it straight. He started by making a pie cut on it then bending it back into shape. He had to bend it so far that it broke in two! He then ground the two ends and used a good 5335 as a template. and matched it. Then he tig'ed it all back together and filled it all in with weld. He did a great job as usual! Another 5335 shifter saved!
