Sonomatic A/M-F/M-AM/FM/8-track, it doesn't really matter; AM would be preferable since that was originally in the car. Doesn't necessarily have to work as I'm just trying to bring back the original look of the interior but would be a nice plus. Definitely needs knobs and related hardware.

Also need driver's side front armrest as the vinyl pad is cracked and deteriorated and needs to be replaced. Color: black.

Finally, trying to find floor carpeting to repair/replace the worn front carpeting already in the car. Gently used, okay as long as it's clean. Color: black.

    Thanks so much! :)

I have a factory AM-FM Stereo 8 Track that came out of a 71 Riv. Same dash as your LeSabre . I have no way to test it but I assume it would have to be gone thru and repaired. Pretty sure I put it up for sale on this site a while back. If interested send me a message and I can send some pictures

You should be able to find new oem replacement carpet reasonable at any number of online sources

That might work. Here's where my girl is unique... I have a dark green car with black interior and black vinyl roof, right? But I have green carpet in the back, and black carpet in the front! And even then, I think it was an assembly line afterthought, because although it has the usual plastic pad under the pedals, there is no grommet for the high beams button on the floor - just a hole that somebody would have had to have cut and modified - and the carpet itself is doubled over slightly against the firewall, as though whatever Buick assembly line worker didn't have the exact swath of carpet that was supposed to have gone in the front and instead made a last-second substitution, perhaps from another model!

At any rate, the carpet under the passenger side is worn, but not worn through. However, there is a spot on the driver's side that HAS worn through - and I mean not only through the carpet, but through the wooly insulation and tar soundproofing as well and down to the bare metal floorboard! Additionally, there are two small wear holes next to both kick panels. My original idea was to get a set of floor mats and hide all that. Well, floor mats for that car are way expensive, and I doubt very much would cover the holes next to the kick panels. So, I was hoping to find some carpeting from another car, cut it up into patches, and patch the holes with needle and thread. Then, spray the whole shebang with Landau Black SEM Color to make it all nice and even and new-looking. I can certainly check online for carpeting material, but hey - if you're offerin' your tan carpeting for free or low-dough, I'll take you up on it! :)

WRT the armrest I need, here's a pic. Black electrical tape closes the cracks, is easier on the elbow and looks nicer, but very far from the look I'm trying to get. Maybe someone has a black one they could part with?

    Thanks, Garyd! :)

Sounds to me like it is more likely that someone wore through the original and a replacement was probably pulled out of a junked car at some point. There are occasional factory errors, but that doesn't sound like a plausible one. At the factory any piece they would have used would have had the grommet in it, they do not pick up random pieces of carpet and through in, they would have had piles of ready to install carpets in the colors they needed.

I know yours was a family car, was it bought new or bought used? The way the car is equipped I would almost wonder if it didn't start life out as an FBI/police or something similar vehicle, and it may have actually had a rubber mat in the front originally

I have a 70-72 AM FM from a Buick. $25.00 plus the actual cost of shipping.

Hm.. I know for a fact that the car was bought new from Schott Buick in June '71 by Judge Keefe - the dealer paperwork in the glovebox testifies to that. It is also a fact that at some point my grandfather bought the car from Keefe, but the date and amount are unknown. Beyond those two, the rest is speculation. I have vague memories of riding in the back with my sisters as my mom picked him up from where he worked, and I remember riding in the front when he was driving and got hit in the side by someone. But outside of that, there's a huge gap in knowledge between when Keefe bought the car and my grandfather put her in year's long storage in their garage.

I suppose it is possible that something happened to the carpeting that would have required it to be replaced as opposed to simply cleaned. Whether it was worn through or somebody spilled/vomited/bled on it requiring replacement would be anybody's guess. I don't remember my grandfather having replaced it, but then again I don't remember him having engine work requiring the heads pulled off, either, but that nevertheless showed to be the case when a car show pal of mine rebuilt her block and discovered non-factory head gaskets.

I have seen some very low mileage cars where the carpet has been about shredded by womens high heels or people with a restless leg type nervous habit. . Another thing that often happened was heater core failure and often the antifreeze would discolor or ruin the carpet.

70 to 72 B or C body donors I suspect. Except for the labels I recall they are all the same insofar as mono radios. I may have more than one. Never tested. I have no idea when, where or how I got them.

Don’t know for sure but I would have to wonder about a 70 radio since 71 was an all new design in and out. 71-72 fir sure, 73 will fit but face changed some

Do you have the service model number (as gsx445 posted in his pics above)? The third digit designates the body type. I'd love to have one for that $25, but I'd want to be sure it'd fit in my B-body car.

That makes a lot of sense, actually. Plus, I don't know how much of a socialite Keefe's wife was, so if she were one who dressed up and went to a lot of functions, I could see how she'd wear the carpet out with her heels.
