As stated in the title. This is the hose that connects to the radiator and is secured to both the radiator and the lower outlet of the overflow tank - using green pinch clamps. See picture below and thanks in advance!
This should be thick walled, like the other hose that connects to the upper outlet of the tank. While the size is correct, (3/8) thin walled is no bueno. See below:
Looks like it might be the same hose as used on the w/shield washer pump....the "main" hose that runs from the washer bottle to the washer pump assembly. That is also "thick walled" hose IMO and will have one or more "ribs" on the hose.
It should be a 3/8 line so the green pinch clamps fit it. I think that washer hose might be smaller diameter.
Washer hose is definitely smaller. I think it may be 1/4 ID. The hose that connects radiator to lower port on overflow jug is 3/8 ID thick wall same as a fuel line hose but original had ribs. I wish I could find the extra originals I saved. They are not where I thought I put them but you know how that works. Stay away from those eBay or restoration hoses as they are all thin walled. Buick just did not use them at all on 70-72 as they will collapse under pressure.
Brett, What are the inside and outside diameters of the 2 hoses, and let me know which is which? I also would like to know their lengths. Are you looking for these for your car, or are you trying to get them made? I have boxes of original hoses. Duane
I will double check also with what I removed from my car also. Does CARS have the correct style I think I remember there catalog saying it was the correct style I think not sure
Duane, The hose I'm looking for is a 3/8 line that runs from the radiator to the lower outlet of the overflow tank - which is a larger diameter outlet than the top one. I don't know the inside diameter or length but I do know it's shorter than the hose that will affix to the radiator tank. The first post has a picture of Dave's old GSX and yes, this would be for my car. As for the longer hose, I'll measure it when I get home. Thanks!
Here is the hose I already have - that affixes to the side of the radiator tank. Inside diameter is a 1/4 inch and it's exactly 24.5 inches long. If you have this one, you'll obviously be able to decipher which is which. This one is much longer than the 3/8 one from the radiator to the bottom outlet of the overflow.
OK, Here are some pics of the hoses on my 71 X. The hose from the rad to the bottom of the overflow tank measures 13 1/2" long and is 3/4" OD. It is also ribbed. The first 2 pics are of that hose. The last pic shows the other hose, it is smaller but is also ribbed. Brett, If the hose you are looking for matches the one in my pics then PM me your phone number and I will see what I have. I will be digging thru my hoses today. (No jokes please.) Duane
Brett.... I have hoses.. actually 3 ovum. one is 8" long, one is 11" long and one is 13" long. . One is still attached to an overflow bottle... note says O'Flow hose with screws for bottle mounting. These are not all dried out and still flexible. They are usable, HOWEVER, if you are looking for concourse, keep look'n. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
...after viewing Duane's pic, I noticed the larger hose appears to have 6 or 7 ribs?? and yes, I have one of those too... its 13.5 " long as well. (its the hose on the far left of the 2nd pix) Wheelz, Tampa Bay
