My 72 Stage 1 is perfect stock in dress but with a slighly warmed over motor, maybe 50 HP more than stock, anyway ,leaving a cruise night and a nice 1963 Corvette with 327 fuelie 375 HP with 4 speed tries me getting onto the hiway. It did run, he was getting scratch in all 4 gears, but my torque put him down. I'm 49 and been street racing all my life and the thrill never gets old, something about 2 guys on the street at night with their pride and joy wanting to show the other guy tail lights and the roar of HP coming to life from under the hood makes me happy every time.
Well done sir!! Some of the biggest egos ive ever met at shows were vette guys. Not all, but some need a reminder once in a while they arent always the king of the hill.
A buddy of mine has a 93 lt1 vette auto convertible and is getting a trophy made for our upcoming race at the local 1/8th mile track. My motor is 413 cammed with stage 1 gessler ported iron heads but together by stage 1 performance. I have a tko 600 and 3.73's running fitech efi. Should be able to come out on top as long as I can get a bit of traction and hit third gear in the tremec. Fixed the horrible wheel hop with no hop's and air bags \, I will but some drag radials on just for some insurance. wonder if I should start in second gear?
Truly one of the finer things in life, a warm summer evening, best girl in the seat next to you, old school sounds from the FM radio and 510lbs of torque on tap...............God is Good.
What's your bud done to the vette? You might get your doors blown off if he's got twin turbos or a surprise under the hood.
