Yeah...right..well Muscle Cars dont really blend in well, any old car dont but bright orange .naaaaa! Black on the other hand... Well it might from a distance but this beast definitely gets attention and favourable comments everywhere I go. "Nice car mate!"...at the lights, at gas stations, mc donalds, everywhere! It rumbles without being offensive. Ok rang dude with wide rims. Seems he brings cars in from US and puts wheels and stuff in em. Can do me 8" with 4" backspace Or 9" with 5" backspace, Smoothies with no slots ok for back. Im away all weekend volunteer flag marshal at the historic car racing weekend at Morgan Park track at Warwick so will get wheels on monday, maybe take car there and try em on. Mate that runs a 9 second Cleveland reckons 10 to 1 aint much comp. Said I could run our Premium with Nulon octane boost, I rather play it safe but ,hey.
My other Buick, owned for 25 years, found in a field with bushes growing inside, no floor, (all that blood n bone ,lol) Went hard on it for first few years then stalled and never finished. Deserves its own thread but its straight not bent 8 !
Yeah Larry, thats what I got tonight the 9" with 5 1/2" backspace, About to try em without tyres, well one anyway. Still need to decide 275/50 or 255/60
Didn't you mean 275/60? 275/50 would look awfully short compared to your front tires. Also, that extra 1/2 inch of backspacing, depending on what tire you put on it, might be awfully close to your frame rails. Fingers crossed.
Well what do you think? 275/60 might be pushing it 255/50 would go I think and get enough bite. Larrys running a much tougher engine than mine.
Dont care what it looks like rkammer, theyll be bolted on and off at the track. The exercise is purely for traction purposes. The rubber has to clear the body inner and outer and exhaust. 255/60 are 27"tall 275/50 are 26" tall 275/60 are 28"tall The tallness can also affect clearance as the wheelwell narrows as it gets higher. Also a taller tyre gives more traction but also gears the car higher as in top speed .
Kind of tough to really know without the tire mounted to the wheel as the tire will bulge out wider that the rims. Here's what mine look like with 8 inch rims and 295/50 tires. Note the tire is wider than the rim although the bulge won't be as pronounced with your 9 inch rims.
Experimented with the 20s They got 275 rubber and 28" tall with 5 1/2" backspace and everything is real close but fits so the 275/60 or 275/50 would fit I think
Kickdown working ok now. Ran power to switch from another source, fused it of course. Ok trial fitted a worn 275 50 15 MT ET Street and it just clears the lip
