Found this 91 yesterday in a old folks trailer park. Lady said she was the original owner. They used it to pull a camper from Az to Ny and back once a yr. Has over 200K showing . She says they put a new engine in it less than 30k miles ago. Just been parked where you see it for the last several years. Very clean inside and out. Will post more details and photos once I get her home next week.
I’d love to have that. Too bad my checkbook is going to need a month or two off from the week I’ve been having.
I love a ‘squarebody’ and the ones that have the grill and headlights of the ‘88 up roundish trucks look very cool to me. If it’s as nice as it looks in the photo it’s a great find. Patrick
2500? 4WD? 350/454 Gas or Diesel? Like the barn doors vs. fold down tailgate. I remember back in the 80's when my parents had a camper, those were the truck to have for bumper pull RV's & toting the family & gear around - Crew Cab pickups weren't so common like today. Nice find, especially if rust free.
I think that's the last year for the box body style, solid front axles(4X4) burbs. They galvanized most of the body so they don't rust as bad as the early ones. Only issue will be the brake lines rusting out. If it has rear heat those lines rust out too. Looks nice!
I think so - the std/ext cab pickups changed over in '88 but the crew cab pickups & Suburbans not 'til '92.
Its got a reman 350 in it. The guy had set it up with heavy duty ext coolers. She said it had been setting for a long time. turned on the battery disconnect and it fired right up. Old style TBI Gas 350. Its got this weird hitch thats on a curved I beam under the rear of the truck. Haven't seen that before. He's also got several different types of trip computers and CB style radios in it. I didnt look the thing over real close as it was starting to rain and I still had service calls to run. I'll have it possibly bu the weekend or early next week.
Dave Hemker has a hitch like that on a ‘Burban. It’s an interesting idea, PM him for details. Patrick
Just got it home. Runs and drives nice. To do list.. replace the headliner. One of my pet peeves is a sagging headliner. New tires. Something that will fill up those flairs. Full ext / int detail. Not sure what I'll do with that ugly ass hitch on the back. Its got 90's electronic doo dads stuck all over the dash board which has to go. Theres a trans temp gauge and a tach that need to be relocated to a more visible and useful place. This truck spent its summers in NY and the winters in Az. 1 owner. have a box full of papers to go through.
It does have rear air! Have a prospective buyer coming in the morning. He's bringing a trailer so Hopefully she'll be going to a new home. Id like to keep them all but even with 10 acres I'd eventually run outta space
Man,if I had the $ right now, I would be on a plane or bus to come down there to pick that up to drive back home! Those kind of vehicles up here in the salt belt are turning to dust!
Heres the all cleaned up pictures. The prospective buyer passed on it this morning so its still available.
