Boy everybody’s a critic nowadays. The tailpipes?? Not restored?? Lol Car looks plenty “restored” to me. $20k is exactly what my starting price would be too. Probably won’t get that...but definitely worth more than $15k IMO.
how about......wrong wires, battery hold down, hose clamps, gas filter, black parts are chromed or painted another color from what I can see from the engine pic. who knows what else is wrong. maybe defining "restored" should be an English lesson for all of us.
Does it have the wrong wing nut on the air cleaner too?? Lol Perhaps the term restored doesn’t necessarily mean concours restoration either. I wouldn’t call it a restomod either. I’d simply say it was restored. Why so serious?
I'd go with 'restomod'. The rocker and wheelwell moldings were removed, and that's a significant change from stock, especially considering the amount of welding involved to fill the trim holes. Don't know what they are calling this style of mod.... it's kind of a retro look like was done in the 50's? Sorta like the rockabilly thing. As far as 'most beautiful '66'?, I like mine better! It’s a nice car but you can probably find a nice GS for that price too, or less. As far as correctness who cares on a car like this. Not like it’s a super rare “one of eight built” or something. Owners can do whatever they want to their cars. To 98% of the population this one is restored, at least to a certain level. I’d put a 455 in it with AC, overdrive, and a killer stereo in it if it was mine. I like yours better too Walt!
You know I just never paid much attention to 66-67s. That back window is killer. I’m very partial to white. Think it accentuates the lines body lines. I agree... that Seattle Skylark is nicer. And that’s just how I’d build it too.
It doesn't say restored to original condition anywhere in his ad, it just says restored. I doubt that a misspelled word has anything to do with the value of the car. I wish there was a website for Buick purists so they would go away, and leave us hotrodders or people that just enjoy a nice car alone. So it doesn't have the original air in the tires. BFD! Bob H.
LOL, maybe some of us purists would wish there was a site for hotrodders to just go away. You are as free to give you opinion of a car as the purists are, if you think this car is all that and a bag of chips, great, I as a purist think it's a mess. I can appreciate the workmanship on cars that have been bastardized, but that's about it. Have to say, the red wheels on this one are tacky, love that it has the original wheel covers and not the factory chrome wheels, but for $18K, you would at least expect the centers to not be faded out
Well I don't really think any of us should go away, maybe some people just need a way to flaunt there great knowledge of how a car should be. I just get tired of seeing a nice car get gigged because it isn't perfect, they are getting old. You should see me I don't look near as good as I did when I was new. Bob H.
To bad, one of the reasons is to help those that may be interested in buying one of these cars and possibly not bastardizing it to know why it is or isn't right. A lot of people look at some of these cars and extoll how beautiful it is, well, I take a closer look and if it helps someone to not make a purchasing mistake, that's great. Also, if pointing out what is right helps someone that is restoring one properly then that is even better. To much of originality gets lost to history and ignorance. An example, 67 steering wheels, about every other 1967 GS you see have the later style wood or sport wheel on them, it has reached a point that people will actually argue with you that they are correct just because they see them everywhere. Even at judged national meets items are starting to slide by because they have become so common they are perceived as being correct. If you don't like my posts, by all means ignore them, better yet, I believe there is a button you can click to not see any of my post, by all means, please hit it. You are not the audience that it matters to me anyway. When you put a car out into the world for sale, asking ridiculous prices, you better be ready for it it be critiqued, isn't that what buyers have been doing for decades? Have you listened to the big auctions on TV when the cars are going across the block to the announcers critiquing them? It all part of selling a car.
