Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the Earth's moon. 49 years ago I asked the woman who has been my bride for nearly 48 years to marry me. For some strange reason, she was silly enough to say yes, and the time has flown by. This was quite a day for us, and the famous "Earthrise" photo has hung somewhere in the various homes that we have owned as a momento of the day.
Congrats nice memory. We got married in 71 and watched Apollo 15 launch on our honeymoon, the Saturn 5 made the ground shake an awesome experience. And we drove the then one year old GSX with no AC from Illinois to Florida. Jim
I watched it in my Kindergarten class over a shaky black & White TV that was running on bent rabbit ears. No matter what the teacher did, the picture skipped. And then when she got it tuned, it got snowy. She said it was because of bad reception from the moon, the rabbit ears weren't strong enough to get a picture from that far away. Congrats John, on 49 years, that's quite an accomplishment!
Back when home theater came out, I had a big set of Pioneer speakers, along with a middle, (Bose) and rear speakers with a monster powered Pioneer subwoofer. If someone wanted a demonstration, I would use the Saturn launch from Apollo 13 as the test vehicle. On more then one occasion I had folks leave the room rather hurriedly, and the volume was never near max.
