Don't really know what section for this, but here it goes and no need for rude comments just an honest question... My 72 past car already has a little better than a stage 1 running gear and interior, my question is would a gs hood and emblems look like hell on a post car or would a tribute look be pretty cool? Car is shaved of all emblems front to back as of now
Do it. The emblems add a little flash and color that add a lot to a car done well. I paint my brake drums red to catch the red on the rocker stainless, and red in the emblems. It all ties together nicely.
Either a GS hood or stage 2 scoop would look good. If you like emblems put em on, if not, don't, whatever blows your skirt up. Regardless, a nicely done post car is tasty imo.
A lot better reception than I expected, I was thinking the only emblem I would put on it would be the grill emblem, simply because I like the clean look on the rest of the body... Really like the idea of the stage 2 scoop
I like "tribute" cars. As long as no one passes them off (or tries) as "original". And unless a car is an original and carries the original/proper replacement parts, I am not hung up on the "pureness". But a car being shown for its originality, it is nice and proper to have attention to detail that people focus on. I, personally don't think a "concourse" is for me. My OCD and nitpicking would suck the joy out of it. So, I "hot rod".
I'm fond of them on regular Skykarks. I mean, other than a stage 2 hood, you haven't got a whole lot of options....this is my brother's.
uhhh..they made post car GSs..kinda..dealers did an appearance package on specials like a GS Colorado/california..just made up by the dealer..they where post cars and hardtops with a GS hood..and they had GSS on the sail panels and all i saw where half vinyl top cars..targa like, but i saw them both ways..and all where red or orange..well known it happened..the GSS emb was GS and a cut GS using the S..in 71 and 72..mostly 72s is what ive seen..i know for a fact there where at least 5 in St Louis when i was a kid..at least...because i tried to buy everyone i found..heck another member here , grew up in the same area as me, and we actually knew of a couple that both where aware of..he just lived in another part of town..cant believe i never ran into him either...i dunno, maybe i did..cuz back then i was really strong on the 70-72 cars besides if i wanted to put GS and stage1 embs or make it a GSX post car,,whos business is it anyway? I mean..if its my car..no one could stop me..and i dont need the permission or acceptance of a car forum bad enough to change my mind....just sayin'.. its your car do as you like and enjoy it..all that matters is you have fun with the car
