Looking for a 1966 Lark GS Posi. Prefer the 3:55 or 3:36 Will consider 3:23 if that is all I can get.
    Thanks

    Are you only looking for the specific 66 8.2” 10-bolt,or would you consider a 71-72 8.5” 10-bolt?

I prefer the 66, but will consider the 70's as long as the control arms are in the same place to accept the sway bar. I believe you stated on another site the 72 is a bit narrower than the 66?

All of the mounting points and geometry are the same,so it is a direct bolt-in,as far as that is concerned. Some of the early 66 Buick’s came with the leftover narrower rears from 65,but the rest of 66,and all the way to 72,had the same width rear. The only real modification is when you convert from a BOP 8.2”,to an 8.5”,you will need to shorten your driveshaft 3/4”.

OK Brian, thanks for the info. Will see if anyone ponies up on a 66 rear. Thanks,

I have a 67 gs400 to part out but I'll have to check the ratio, i think 3.42 was a popular ratio on this model if you're interested i can check it out. LMK. Thx.

Allen, do you know if there is a width difference between 67 and 66 rears? I do not want anything wider than what the 66 is.

  10. early 1966 cars got a narrower rear same as 1965, mid and late 66-1967 had a slightly wider rear end.

Your ONLY talking about a 1/2" each side.

  12. Exactly why I opted for a 71-72 8.5 rear for my 66

    Because it is narrower?

I had 8" wide rims that I tried to put on one of my larks, and I needed the extra 1/2' on each side to allow them to fit.

  15. I have 8 inch wide rims but I had the extra inch put to the inside and they fit just fine. I could see where you would have fitment issues if the extra interest to the outside

Would you be interested in the guts to install into your existing housing? I have a set of 3:23’s and matching 4-pinion posi, that I just removed from a running rear yesterday. $375.00 shipped anywhere in the US 48 for the posi and gears. 8.2” 10-bolt BOP.
