Bob, What fuel are you using with the 11.4:1?

Larry, I mix Sunoco 110 with 93 pump gas 50/50 when street driving, and just use straight 110 at the track. This combo has been together for almost 10 years now, and I think during the next refresh, I might cut the compression down some.

This is a Great thread. I am seeing high compression, and for the most part 4. + gearing. Is it possible to get into the 10.’s with a 10.5 compression stage two heads and 3.73 gears, 462 ?
I’m certainly enjoying this read though

I'm hoping to exceed my best time with my current build. Less compression, 3.90 gears, much better heads.

As long as the heads are moving some air and it doesn't weigh 4klbs, yes , not far in the 10's but some 80's low 90's would be possible

The reason you see such deep gears is mostly because of the 29 or 30in tall tires most 10sec cars run. And it helps with the 60ft my car went 1.42's first few and only passes, if it wasn't hanging it's tongue out at the strip I'd put a 430 gear

I'm super tempted to put 430s in ours when I put the 30 spline spool and axles in. Running 4.10s now when shifting at 6500/6500 went through the 1320 at 6200......stk rod motor. We now have molnars and billet main caps....thinking we could go 7000 if we needed to. Most places around us are down to running 660', so most of the time I won't ever see that long draw in high gear.

When I put a stk bottom end 430 in with my ported iron heads it went upper 11.20s, but I also threw 4.56 in it

I'm thinking about making a handful of passes on my stk axles to see the top end rpm b4 pulling the rear apart to put the new spool.

I'm hoping to add my build to this list after BG, but it'll only be tickling 10's with the spray (I hope anyway).

I run a 4:33 gear, stock rod motor, shift at 5800, 6000, and cross the line at 6100. I'd spin it a tad higher but the kb107 is done pulling at that point.

With my 4.10 and 28 in tire I was seeing 6800 at the stripe

So a good 12.1 compression engine with stage 2s and a high 3 or low 4 series gear should get a 69 skylark into the low 11s high 10s? At least that's what I'm seeing a lot of

3.73 gears and 28x12.5 ET Streets
I use 99 octane Sunoco unleaded (sold at the local Sunoco) mixed 50/50 with 93 octane at the track and just 93 on the street.

    Best time of 10.96
    Best mph 124.72

Have since added a rear anti roll bar but the 20 year old trans finally gave up so I don't know if it will help or not. I'll be rebuilding another TH400 as soon as I get time to mess with it.

Car weighs 3,200 w/driver, this is one of the most basic 10sec. Buicks around, built for bracket racing with no exotic parts, runs "real" pump gas & has literally hundreds if not thousands of 1/4 mile passes and usually leaves with the wheels a couple feet in the air.

Compression ratio, heads, pistons, converter, etc... Your build seems like something very similar to what I'm looking for
