  1. I arranged to buy a 66 GS from Jimmy based on his trusted description of the car and pictures he provided. absolutely NO RUST was one of the requirements. he assured me no rust at all, then contacted me after I paid but before car was shipped to let me know he found a very small rust hole, I asked to cancel the deal and for my money back and he declined. he did give me a $500 refund for that particular issue. he also insisted the car had no pitting in pot metal trim or chrome inside or out. on arrival the car was heavily pitted in both those areas. the trunk floor had rusted out and was poorly covered in fiberglass, the left rear quarter had a bad rust issue that had been very poorly repaired in past and then rusted again. I paid $11000 for what was supposed to be a good solid old car with a couple minor mechanical issues and absolutely NO RUST. what I got was not that. when contacted by me Jimmy denied doing anything wrong. look at the pics and the screen captures of his own words and you decide.

  2. The car with no rust, then it was supposed to be a tiny spot of rust.. note the fiberglassed trunk floor that was hidden under the newer trunk matt. and the no pitting of chrome and pot metal.

There is no excuse for the actions of Mr 66 GS. It bothers me there is someone in our community who would so blatantly misrepresent a car to a fellow board member.

As stated above, very disappointing to see this type of fraud from a board member. That car is no where close to the descriptions and no where near worth the price.

I don't get what people think when they do something like this, the buyer won't see it? $500 won't fix that "small" rust hole....

That's a bummer this is a place where if someone had a car for sale and they answered the questions that I gave them and it was all ok on my end I wouldn't hesitate to buy. What do you think a car in that shape is worth if I may ask ?

It's no wonder why this car managed to escape his collection.

Wow! I'd be pissed as well. I would never expect anyone here to be dishonest to make a buck. I'd like to hear what the seller has to say for himself.

Wow, sorry to hear about this that was a total misrepresentation of a car, Jimmy you need to man up and give the man his money back people like you do nothing but ruin the trust between board members.

  11. When I began my search for a replacement to my sold 71 GS I had 2 specific requirements, NO A/C and NO RUST. Jimmy being my Facebook friend and having talked with me many times over the years knew and acknowledged this. I felt because of how widely known he is and our interactions that I could trust his assessment of the car he was selling after all he is Mr. 66 GS right? as we discussed his many cars I explained I did not want to get involved in a restoration and wanted a solid car that I could tinker on and drive. Mechanical stuff really wasn't an issue for me. of the 3 cars he offered to me there was a tan car that was nicely optioned but I passed because it had a small spot of rust and I told him I didnt want to deal with any rust which he agreed with. he then mentions his red car and says but it's probably not the c ar for you since it needs everything. at this point the green car I bought needs everything so I dont get the difference. it's all there in the messages.

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

What a shame. What a bummer. The more I read about this, the sicker to my stomach I get. Sorry you're dealing with this Bob. If he really didn't realise how bad it was till he took it out of the shop, he should've offered a full refund for his mistake. This is just straight deception to take advantage of someone miles and miles away. It sucks to feel like you've been swindled, especially by someone I'm sure you considered a friend.

I'm curious to see if he comes on and attempts to defend himself. I don't see how he could.......

I did notice in your conversation when he first mentions the tiny rust hole in the driver's 1/4 he sent you a picture of the passenger 1/4 damage. Obviously the drivers side is much worse

  14. I think thats just a camera software reversing the image because the passenger side appears solid. I say appears because I am scared to look too closely.

Is there any chrome on that car that's NOT pitted? How could he possibly say there's no pits anywhere??

More like he's gone blind...His description isn't even close to accurate.

  18. So apparently I am the unreasonable one. Look at all the descriptions and my questions and tell me if I am the one at fault here

  19. how about this since i'm being called unreasonable and wrong, lets get 3 prominent V8Board members and do an impromptu arbitration. I will present all my evidence, Jimmy can present his and I will agree to abide by whatever the majority decides. if you feel you're so right Jimmy this should be a no brainer.

    option 2
refund my money and I will deliver the car to your buddy John in Portland and you can sell it and all this goes away. i'll even eat the $1800 I spent on shipping.

Ya, keep me outta this mess... You two figure this out on your own.

The takeaway I see here is don't even think about buying a 50+ year old Buick without physically inspecting it first.. either you Personlly, or someone you trust/hire to inspect it.

I don't trust anyone... especially someone who wants to sell me something.

And perception is just that.. remember, one man's junk is another's treasure.

That being said, I would be very unhappy if I was Bob.. That car is a ways from rust free.
