While I was up visiting the fam, we found and opened up some of our old stash of Buick books, Kenne-Bell and Poston catalogs my little bro still has in his possesion from back when Dad had his Skylark drag car. I can still remember looking through them, and remembered the pics when I saw them. Pretty cool getting a flashback and knowing where a few of these beauties are and who owns them! Thought the 1/4 mile recipes were pretty dang cool, too.

LOL..Yes. Motion went out of business years ago. I bet you could find a copy online somewhere. There was one on Ebay recently that went un-bought. Maybe you could contact the seller and see if he can relist it for you as a buy it now. Its completely outdated and there is really no useful information in it, but its still a cool book to have in the collection If you do make a time machine, put in two extra seats for Wild Bill and me
I bought my copy of The Buick Power Book at a swap meet in the early 90’s. I damn near wore it out looking at it all the time.
Yes, was the Buick Power Book. Our version is copyright 1979. Pretty cool to flip back through history.....if you really want it and can't find one, maybe try my brother (alaskagn). Its technically his, but I bet he won't let it go cheap comparatively. Kind of our family history type thing.......
Pretty sure that is a required/ must have book to own to maintain your Buick GS "street cred" according to the Buick GS owners bylaws. Others would be- An old Kenne Bell catalog (extra points for hand written notes in the pages, dog ears and greasy hand prints) An Old Poston catalog (extra points- see above) The Steven Dove book- Guide to Buick Gran Sports (but the old school first cover that was black) Buick Muscle Cars 1965-1970 (copyright 1984) Buick- The V8 and V6 Performance Years (copyright 1983) The Buick Service manual (extra points for having 3+ consecutive year manuals/ extra points for having an extra "shop copy")
You forgot every issue of the GSX-TRA. I'm only missing a couple of the recent years. I've got the Dove books, and a couple different service and assembly manuals. I also have a signed copy of KIRBAN’S GUIDE TO 1986 and 1987 BUICK TURBO REGALS I've almost bought the Muscle Cars and Performance years books a couple times. I will buy an old Kenny Bell and Poston catalog if I get the chance.
I have two copies of the service manual, the chassis manual, Steve’s book, the ‘Guide to Gran Sports’ book, Doug Roe’s and Jim Hand’s carb books, all the Xtras, Kirban’s books, Service manuals for cars I don’t own, GM Parts numbers and illustrated (two different sets), Buick complete history, a Poston catalog, and Year One from about 1990 when it was a black and white pamphlet sized catalog. Plus Guide to Musclecars, Musclecar Review, HMM and a couple years of BOP Gazette that became GM Enthusiast (?). I’m sure there’s more... Patrick
I can remember staring at the drag strip test list endlessly while my dad was building his first V8 Buick with the 118 cam, M/T headers, B4B intake, and eventually the 1000 CFM thermoquad.
As a side note. The Reynolds Buick stg2 program test car turned into the car that has KenneBell on the side with the psychedelic paint job. Then it was used to test K/B parts. Is the car that was used in the now famous drag strip parts list test.
Helps to have been kinda local. I have most of the stuff listed. I'll have to dig some out and post up pix. One of the Mr. Dove books is sealed in a manila envelope and is suppose to be signed , my kids can open it if they like, you know, before they load it into the dumpster with the rest of my hoardings. There was also one with the factory recall things for the GS I think.
