Hey guys, I want to buy some Stage 1 valves. I know TA Performance has the set for $225, but I wanted to know if there is any other reliable place to get Stage 1 valves for cheaper. I know TA Performance has great parts and I want the quality to be on par with them.
Im not being cheap, I want to know if there's someone out there competing with TA Performance with the same quality at a better price. If theres not, TA it is.
If you convert to a smaller valve stem diameter, you can adapt different valves, retainers, springs and locks to the heads with a little research if you want bigger valves in there. You just need to get the valve tips close to where the factory has them and you're good to go if your spring install heights are correct.

But I ran them in a heads that had a 308s cam working the valves........so they can hold up quite well. But they are not as nice as TAs by any means
Yeah i know what everyone is saying, My whole rebuild list is stuff from TA Performance. I'm not cutting corners. I was just curious like i said earlier to see if there was a competitor with TA. It surprises me they're the only Buick part supplier making good quality parts.
REV - racing engine valves, they are in West palm beach FL. I have bought theirs for experimental flow tests. $12.00 each. If I remember correctly! And Ferrea valves they are in Fort Lauderdale Fl. My last stage-2 had these. You need to check them both because one of them quite making the stage-1 valve and I can't remember which one.
Depending on the application yes I would use them again. If it was going into a motor with lots of goodies I would just spend the extra few bucks and get the tas. If it was going into a street car running g under .550 lift where you could get away with lighter springs like tas stage 1 us sure, I would use them
Let me explain my setup. I'm in the process of turning my iron heads into stage 1 heads. Stock manifold and stock Rochester carb. I'm getting stage 1 valves, ta's 500 lift springs, and a cam from ta with right around 500 lift, and I'll be getting their heavy duty stock rocker assembly. I'll be using sealed power 30 over pistons, stock connecting rods, stock push rods, and hydraulic lifters.
So why do all the extensive port work if you're only going to use a .500" lift cam? By the sound of the amount of porting you want to do you'll still have flow up to .600" lift! Might as well just do the bowl work and some unshrouding and call it done if you're not going to utilize all of the new found flow you will be trying to create.
Its not set in stone yet, i have to see what my heads flow at, I might have good flow up to 600. I know for right now I will have good flow up to 500. When I'm done with the heads and have my results then I can finalize a cam. and I want to daily drive this car, its not a track car. So I want a reliable set up that will last me atleast 10 years before I have to do another rebuild.
Derek's right - pick your valves around your design perimeters. You can make any number of valves fit, especially with virgin heads. talk to your machinist or engine builder to get what's right for your CFM objectives.
The other day ebay had 15% off and i was so close to getting the valves you suggested but I said screw it, let me pay 75 bucks more and get the TA's.
